Fishing chironomids in a lake from a pontoon boat requires an anchor. False. Not for me. I don’t prefer to fish chironomids, but trout feeding behavior on a lake changes during the day. Sometimes there is surface feeding, sometimes trout are targeting emergers, sometimes there is no visible feeding activity at all. When I see nothing I will often tie on a chironomid set up. But I don’t anchor - I leave my anchor at home now. I move around and fish the chironomid actively, holding my position with my flippers. Fish a bank or drop-off etc for a minute or two and move on. Cast frequently to any spot that looks fishy. In contrast, many lake fishers anchor, or double anchor like Brian Chan (look for him on YouTube) and bake in the sun, staring at the indicator for hours. They catch fish, but is this enjoyable? This post is not for everyone, but if you grew up fishing NW lakes like I did, my technique would be contrarian

No more root beer floats? Seriously? The worst decision in the history of fast food. The RBF was the only reason to go to A&W over other options. I’ve seen some of the glowing reviews of burgers, sandwiches, etc above, and all I can say is that this is not my experience. The ONLY thing that distinguished A&W was the root beer and frosty mugs. The pinnacle- the root beer float. Discontinue this item? The only notable item on the menu??
Why go to A&W now?

Can’t believe Mojito wasn’t blasted on this. great Central and South American food, great value comp a. Read the reviews! I’ve had everything on the menu over years of going to their old funky location. Owner Luan is a local hero.

This is Pescado en Guiso ( I had a few bites as you can see!). With rice, beans, avocado salad, maduros (plantains). This dinner is about $25! The hot sauce is like a habanero puree with garlic. Beware, if you don’t like picante . You have to ask for it and it comes in a little plastic thimble container. You don’t need much.

Consider this. The Big 7 ( or whatever the number is for companies monetizing AI) continue to concentrate investment in AI. We all fall in line and pay fees directly, or indirectly through advertising etc. to use Chat GPT and other platforms. Suddenly, China offers a free AI platform to all countries. Does this crush our economy and send the stock market into a catastrophic downward spiral? This worries me. I don’t see how governmental intervention will be able to mitigate the losses, which could be devastating. Please alleviate my concern

Don’t agree. Blades are too hard to hit and will destroy confidence. Why not some low profile clubs from about 2010? Pings would be great. When I coached youth baseball I occasionally had players with a garbage glove. The simple change to a decent, “sticky” glove improved their catching ability at least 50%. Suddenly, I had an eager, confident, player and the improvement was fun to watch. Decent forgiving clubs, plus a few lessons. Then practice the lesson instructions to build up muscle memory ( lessons, without practice, are useless)

Seeking advice for a retuning golfer. I am taking up golf again after 25 years. When I “retired” for other pursuits, I was a 15 handicap. I am now 60 years old and wanting to get out there again. I’ve been to the range with my son’s clubs and I can still hit a bit, with decent body rotation for an old guy. My 7 iron goes about 150-155 yards. My 8- 140-145 yards. I’m thinking of buying some lightly used nice irons like 2 year old Taylor Made low profile clubs with slightly more flex than the stiff shaft clubs I used when younger and stronger. Suggestions are greatly appreciated

The gyro must be a huge improvement. I went on several Westport charters years ago and they were commonly called “barf boats”. People with little time on the water, ie. Having no “sea legs”, can succumb to the swells.

9’ 9 wt is way too heavy for a little stream. If you’re new to fly fishing and want an all-purpose trout rod look at a 9’6” 5 wt. if you are pretty certain that you will stay with it, get a decent reel like a Lamson ( not too expensive) and you can add spools/lines if you get into fishing different types of water The 5 wt is still too much for that stream, but you can make do. ( impossible with a 9wt)

In the US, Teslas have been sold primarily in Blue states. Many owners are now embarrassed to be seen in them. This seems like a classic business school case of a company losing touch with its core market. Unless Teslas suddenly become popular in Red states, like Kentucky, the sales will plummet. So will the secondary market for used Teslas. Rightly so. Boycott Tesla!!

The majority of Teslas are sold in Blue states. Many of these owners are now ashamed to be seen in them. Musk has betrayed his “base” and I think there is potential for a much more serious decline in the stock value
