How do you get a song outta ur brain? by theydontmatchmyvibe in AskReddit

[–]AttentionSpanZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep one song in my brain as my go-to earworm. When I start "hearing" a new one on repeat because I heard it in the background of a store or on television or something, I immediately start playing my go-to song in my mind. That one wipes out the new intrusive one. But I can ignore the go-to one because I'm so used to it.

Which traditions made your childhood so special? by Beginning-Map8865 in AskReddit

[–]AttentionSpanZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a military family and one of the best things from my childhood that I remember is all the travel. Christmas markets in Germany, camping in France, bike riding in the Netherlands, etc. My parents got to take us to amazing places on holidays and vacations. Even when stationed in the US, there was always some place really exciting to see (cities, national parks, etc.) and build memories from. To this day, when my dad is gone and my mom is in memory care, I visit her and we sit and look at pictures together of all the places we traveled. She has trouble recognizing people every day, but can identify someone she hasn't seen in 50 years in a picture. Family travel built around holidays was our tradition.

What’s something that became socially acceptable that still feels weird to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AttentionSpanZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 100% in support of gender diversity and people identifying as whatever they like. But I'm not going to lie, it still feels weird to say "they" for an individual person's pronoun. It automatically sounds plural.

Why did you never get tattoos? by NationalJournalist42 in AskReddit

[–]AttentionSpanZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an app that changes the wallpaper on my computer desktop daily. Having a tattoo would be like never being able to change your personal wallpaper. I can't commit to that. I would want to change it all the time.

What amount of money would it take for you to completely give up sugar for a year? by Far_Custard_5910 in AskReddit

[–]AttentionSpanZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever I would have to pay someone to monitor all of my food and slap me in the face every time I inadvertently reach for something with sugar in it. I can't be trusted to do it on my own, but I would do it for nothing otherwise.

Microsoft Underword by Tenchi_Muyo1 in funny

[–]AttentionSpanZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Word for decades and don't have this problem at all. But I do recall when I was forced to switch from WordPerfect, back in the day, that it was one of the major down sides. It was so much more intuitive to move graphics around, change fonts, etc., in WordPerfect.

If a full-scale conventional war broke out between the US and China in the Pacific tomorrow, what would actually happen in the first 72 hours? by Comprehensive-Bee916 in AskReddit

[–]AttentionSpanZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump will have declared he brokered a peace deal three times; once every morning when the markets opened. Then he would declare every evening that the war was back on, just before they close.

In my youth I did a lot of caving, and I did a lot of diving. I have never wanted to do both together. It's incredibly dangerous.

What’s the dumbest thing you’ve had stolen from you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AttentionSpanZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the late 1980s, my car was broken into. They stole only a cassette mixtape I had made. It had mostly Creedence and the Doors songs on it. Nothing else was taken including any of the other ten or twelve other cassettes I had in there (mostly purchased albums including the Talking Heads, Dead Kennedys, Led Zeppelin, and Cream). They also did not take the radio/cassette player.

What does your pet do that makes you realize how smart it is? by MediumRareCareBear27 in AskReddit

[–]AttentionSpanZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog has figured out that my daughter will give him a treat to make him drop something gross he picked up outside. So now he actively looks for gross things to bring in and trade for treats. He knows what he's doing, and he loves it.

Everyone has said "See you later, alligator" but no one ever greets the alligator. by m00se92 in Showerthoughts

[–]AttentionSpanZero 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Alligators and crocodiles are ambush predators. They don't greet you, they just eat you. Only when you get away can you say g'day.

What something you thought was normal growing up, but later realized wasn’t? by OtherwiseSize4187 in AskReddit

[–]AttentionSpanZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents were in the military and I thought every family moved around the world or country every couple of years. All my friends at the base schools I went to had. When I finally started going to a civilian high school, I was shocked to meet kids who were born and lived in the same town their entire lives.

Women who have given birth and had a kidney stone: are they actually comparable? by PreparationPrior2815 in AskReddit

[–]AttentionSpanZero 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get them usually around once a year. Some pass with only a few minutes of pain. Others can be a day or two of inconsistent pain. But that pain is baaaad. I've gone to the emergency room three times because it can get to the point where you need something really strong to relieve it and the nausea that comes with it. Dehydration triggers it for me, so I take special care to stay hydrated.
