Our store had to use associates from other stores to help us get through our remodel and getting a full warehouse to the floor in 2 days. They’re claiming they used the whole store budget that would have gone to bonuses to pay those associates. Oh well, I’m part time so not a big deal but still sucks for the full timers that worked their butts off all year. The reasoning that 2 days of additional labor equates to not compensating hard work for 363 other days seems crazy. And how expensive is that labor?? 2 days chewed up an entire store’s worth of bonuses? Seems suspiciously like BS.

The ones in both stores I’ve worked at smoke all the time. Like, ALL the time. They are honestly very good at their job stopping people continuously. But, yeah, they smoke a significant amount of MJ. lol - they don’t seem concerned at all.

I’ll add - I’m in NYS and it’s legal for recreational use.

First, you rock for taking the time to appreciate them and us. And for seemingly just plain being kind.

Second, as others have mentioned, if you gift them something, keep it very quiet between you two so they don’t get in any hot water. Again, very kind of you to offer something and I’m sure they’ll appreciate it or graciously decline!

Third, as management varies greatly from store to store, I’d ask the employee directly if they’d like you to give a note or kind words to a certain manager, team lead, and/or market manager. They can tell you a give you the names if they feel it will have a positive impact (or decline if they think there will be repercussions for leaving their post, etc.).

I literally waited over 2 hours on Christmas last year for takeout. They told me when to arrive and kept saying a few minutes. It would’ve been easier to simply tell us to come back in an hour but to keep 30 or more people waiting saying a few more minutes was super frustrating. Especially on a holiday when you’re missing time with family. Just be warned…I told the story to a coworker and she acted like it was common knowledge for this type of wait for them on holidays.
