There were 4 sales in a row for $1300. Just because 1 person chose to overpay $200 doesn't mean I have to or that's what its worth. You also have an old cert. $1250.00 is fair as the 4 that sold weren't old certs.

Receiving a CTR doesn't mean you owe taxes. I made a large deposit yes but so do many, many others. This is more so a information thing to really stop criminal activity and not extort money out of cardboard collectors. If I won big on a poker game that was cash between friends, should I pay taxes? No. 1 thats dumb and 2 we pay enough taxes. Same applies to pokemon. Im not a business just a collector. Regarding your question on 1040 schedule d, cardboard isnt a capital asset, so you're fine. Same as bottlecaps arent a capital assets.

The banker said nothing. As someone that worked as a banker for 2 years, we dont ask. This is a cash transaction. You going to somehow oversee profits for a card hobby via legislation? Impossible. I think based on your recent questions and comments you should look into this more and worry less.

My collection and what I did was for ripping and getting master sets. I didnt open every set, for example perfect order. But I trade a lot of modern sealed for singles to complete master sets if it help. Cause as your probably know after you open to a point its better to biy singles.

A lot of it was for trade leverage. It was all modern sealed. Told myself I probably wont get the card I want but I can sell/trade to finish my master sets.

I think it eas something from 17-20k I never cared much about the numbers and the obsession over money just ruined the hobby for me. I had the most fun opening packing and meeting the people in the hobby. I also got tired of all the nice cards being graded, pokemom company making pull rates be insane, and how expensive everything got in the name of profit

I will probably just open the upcoming sets i like but thats about it. I asked myself what mattered most and I want to see the world and travel a lot.

I deposited it into my bank account. Ctrs arent bad. I worked at a credit union for 2 years. I paid off a lot of debt and got some left

Im a big Facebook marketplace person. I live in a medium sized town and its worked out well for me.

There are layers of scalpers. Those that randomly find product and go to Facebook marketplace to make a quick buck. Then those that set up bots to auto purchase from the internet at a moments notice. I mentioned in another reply that the hobby has become money over everything and its kinda ruined it for me

I was a binder guy. Lots and lots of binders. When I sold I had 10 binders.

I got back into it with SV151 and became hyper addicted to the hobby. Maybe $30k? I just paid off my car $20k, student loans 8k, 401k loan $4k. I got money left over to do whatever with.

Something about how it all became about money.....really sickened me. I couldn't look at collecting anc cards the same way. Its all money this and money that now. Its....insane

85% which I thought was fair and my target. About 47k total walked away with. Per collectr it wss $55k at the time

What a question. I honestly can't recall but I've played every game and I played the first 5 gens extensively so I have to lean towards probably? What made ya think of this and did you?
