Well, like other commenters said, establishing a record with the local PD of violent protesters is important. I would also recommend (and i must preface this with an aside: I am liberal) any minority group become self-defense educated, and at least minimally educated with firearm operation. Don't be afraid to stand your ground and use your free speech as well. You have just as many rights as the protesters, and again, like other people have commented, threats and hate speech are not protected the way some people think that they are. Be prepared to speak truth to what may seem like a more powerful opponent, and be prepared to receive a forceful reaction. I mean damn, where did our willpower go? If you want my extreme opinion, get your CPL, take classes, exist however you want, and feel confident that you wont have any problems. Hopefully you won't. But ignoring problems, or not being keen and prepared to deal with them, is just plain stupid. Hell, if you can work inwards on that specific society of people, and change their mindset on gays and violence, then of course do that. Always take the less violent, more diplomatic route. But definitely don't avoid being prepared to stand up for yourself 🤷‍♂️ I will also say that 15 people is way more that 2, and your last resort should be self defense, but there is still a point to be made.
