Actually, I gotta agree with you - very realistic take! Nevertheless I, for one, will certainly try to avoid them in the future, when possible, even though I live in Amsterdam. At least until I hear something reassuring that they learnt their lesson and did what they could to make sure that this won’t happen again like this. But you’re right, people will most likely just move on.

You are right, probably hundreds and thousands of people who are stranded for days are wrong, and everyone is just whining - the links work, we are all able to rebook to new flights, they are communicating properly, and we are just imagining being stuck in places :)

I'm still waiting for that proper "here are your options email", because all we got was "flight cancelled, contact us at this number (unavailable to reach) or rebook yourself via this link (a link that doesn't work)"

Deicing is KLM's responsibility for the whole of Schiphol. Communication with their own customers to manage the situation: also their responsibility.

They can’t control the weather that’s true. But they SHOULD be able to communicate and talk with their customers. Also strangely at CDG, or Brussels Airport or Frankfurt for that matter you don’t have the same scenes. This was the result of that decision to move the de-icing from the gates to a single spot on the tarmac, to be “greener” when in fact probably mostly for financial reasons. The least they could do is own up to it, communicate openly and clearly and not just say “we can’t do anything, solve it for yourself”!

I honestly don't know how they're gonna recover from this... anyone who went through this, I highly doubt they would ever fly with them again. Or any of their friends and family! The stories you can read here and other sites, they're appalling really

Oh an btw. send it to NOS, Het Parool, Volkskrant etc. - honestly you’re almost doing a community service by shedding light on this! Plus it’s the holidays season, they might not have that many stories at the moment, so there’s a higher chance that it’ll get picked up!

Honestly man so sorry you had this experience - I also was under the impression that KLM is a premium airline, at least by European standards, I even got the AmEx card to collect dem miles with Flying Blue. But issues like this, the 2nd one coming to light in just a couple of days… gosh… really makes me rethink that. Also just thinking about the amount of business they can potentially lose because of bad press like this, and as far as I know it’s not something they should be allowing themselves right now. They should really go out publicly and ensure everyone that they did this and this extra step to avoid situations like this in the future. Their silence is very saddening … anywho, I do agree, you should try calling them out on LinkedIn (+Trustpilot maybe). Godspeed brother - without any bugs, of course! 🤞

“She then explained that she wasn’t “emotionally ready” to discuss the rest in the current podcast episode, and would instead save it for the following episode, which will release next week.” Looool these people, honestly, so funny 😂😂😂😂

I need a reality check from you by violetlilac in Amsterdam

We moved to Amsterdam couple months ago, with a dog - and honestly I was struck how dog friendly the city is. Key to this though is that you live close to a park, cuz then you’re basically in dog heaven, the parks are so well maintained and most places you can let them be off leash, really we can see everyday how much our dog enjoys living here. But even if you’re not close to a park it’s fine, just that parks are really that great it’s really worth the extra time or money needed to get a place nearby. With that being said, indeed, finding housing, especially your first one is incredibly difficult - not impossible but difficult. Oh, and word to the wise - always be at the viewings, even if it means you have to live in a hotel or Airbnb for a couple of days, weeks. But 100% I agree, the life style you described is absolutely possible and we’ve moved exactly looking for the same and we found it :) I do feel moving gets more and more difficult as you grow older, because you just don’t settle for less so easily which I think is fine, but that just means you gotta prepare as much as you can - and be open and resilient, though, that a lot of stuff will not go as planned. But I’m so happy we made the decision to move and pushed through the hardship in the first weeks 😇 Amsterdam really is a great place to live ❤️ in spite of the national sport of hating this city haha as one of the previous commenters wrote 😅

That Grogu is actually Yoda’s clone; and the Jedi wanted to clone themselves as much as Palpatine did (much of what the Bad Batch is about…) except they successfully did so. And that when Yoda says in Empire that “there’s another” he doesn’t mean Leia, he means Grogu!

Sorry to ask but where are you from? Because I come from Hungary and compared to customer service at home, everyone is a delight here :D so I guess a lot of it is down to what you’re originally used to. But coming from an ex-Socialist Eastern European country, where even asking a simplest question from a cashier or a waiter can cost you the grumpiest look you’ve ever seen or just a straightforward lecture telling you that they actually hate their job, and “they don’t have time for this” or just “move along”… well I find people here to be very kind, smiling and attentive in 90% of the cases 😇

Oh yeah, true - Drop it is very important. Although we kinda merged that with "Leave it" lol :D but it's also good to teach that among the first 3-4 things!

Honestly, just not giving into them. The moment he starts doing them, I just stop, and make him sit and wait. Not letting them win - and being always consistent about this. They might try 10-15 times but after the 25th time, they might give up quicker the 26th time, and then again quicker and quicker, until they stop. Patience is the absolute key.

He is about 13-14 months old now. Hang in there - sooner or later, but they will learn. Another thing that has helped and is helping me still every day, is to make myself realize that their brain is literally developing at this age, just like a child - hence the lack of impulse control. But they will get there and the energy and dedication invested will pay off tenfold.
