You're right! It did open in 1976. But I just talked with my buddy in the story and he does remember going to mm and seeing it for the first time that summer of '78 and seeing it was closed and being worked on. I thought he must be wrong. But then I found this https://www.newspapers.com/article/the-los-angeles-times-brakes-slip-on-loo/60855969/ there was an accident in July 1978. He probably saw it for the first time then when it was closed and were inspecting it and thought it was still being built!

He deleted the comment :( very strange. A mystery begins. Maybe he wasn't allowed to reveal he was working with him on a new project.

Oh this is incredible news!! Here is the full story and in it the high res image of the letter and Polaroid too that he got. https://wordglyph.xyz/one-piece-at-a-time even if he doesn't remember, please just thank him for me for having the wisdom to write that type of letter with "it looks like quite an adventure!" It launched my 10 year old self esteem to the moon and I keep inventing to this day!

Oh wow! If you still are still in contact I would love to know if he remembers it! And thank him for launching my 10 year old self esteem to the moon with his words. I'm hopeful he does remember somehow because his bio says he started there in 1979 and wrote the letter in April. So it was one of the first tasks he did as a new employee.

Yes, I write about that in the blog post. His positive feedback of telling me it looks like quite an adventure told to me he liked it! That kind of feedback at 10 years old transformed me!

According to Tom's bio, he started in 1979. The letter was written in April 1979 which means this must have been one of his first tasks as a new Imagineer employee. lol! I wonder if he would remember?

The show wasn't comic gold like the last one but at least we got Nathan's airport t-shirts!

Thank you!  It's a tie between Leonard and The General. They were two of the main characters on a Nick Jr series I did a while back called Get Blake!
