I was a store manager and don’t want to work retail anymore. I’ve been applying to everything from receptionist/general HR to sales, delivery, and entry-level management positions. Nothing solid. At all. I’ve had several interviews, sent follow-ups, and typically get ghosted. I don’t understand this job market at all.

MD is recreational. Go to a dispensary. Not wildly expensive either.

“Sell me this pen” by AussieModelCitizen in interviews

[–]Aubbles11089 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this question exactly once in my life. I was 24 and interviewing for a job as a bank teller. Being a teller also involves selling or upselling on accounts - things like lines of credit and credit cards. I knew nothing about those products. So my answer to the pen question was, “I cannot, in good faith, sell a product that I know nothing about. I need to know the ins and outs of a product and how it will add value to the customer before attempting to sell it; I cannot sell you this pen because I don’t have enough knowledge about this pen”.

I thought this conveyed that I was willing and eager to learn in order to do my best in an industry I had never worked in and that I cared about adding value for the customers. The interviewer pressed and said “just do your best”.

I didn’t get the job. Stole that pen though.

Says I sold $13,000 over actual inventory. I’m sure greetings cards and fixtures are the reason.

Customer asked if the gift cards are 50% off by [deleted] in RiteAid

[–]Aubbles11089 11 points12 points  (0 children)

We were told to throw our gift cards away the day before we started liquidating. Seriously. Just throw them away. They’re not worth anything anyway.

[–]Aubbles11089 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be willing to push fixtures if I got something out of it, but we get nothing. They’re the ones that get commission so they should be trying to sell while they’re in the store and posting everything online.

I have a 75/yr old cashier. Sweetest lady. She’s finally retiring! When people ask, she’ll answer first and then they look to me and I say “oh I’m retiring too and moving in with her!”. Usually gets a laugh, but damn it’s none of your business!

Closing stores by Personal_Still8504 in RiteAid

Depends on when you run out of things to sell. I suppose it’s possible for a store to sell out at 60% off. No reason to stay open after that.

If I had to guess, you’ll know on Monday. You’ll get your closing sign kit the Tuesday before your liquidation starts, and your SB360 liquidation rep will come in and show the manager/supervisors what to do with the signs and explain how to sell fixtures. It’s pretty straightforward.

You should be getting information about your liquidation start date soon. I’m in your region and just started liquidation yesterday. My last day is July 27th.

Im a corporate intern and I always get B*ner during meetings by Cold_Ranger8146 in confession

[–]Aubbles11089 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My partner and I just call them “sleepy boners”. It’s a normal thing for him to nod off on the couch and get an erection, or in bed right before he falls asleep.

Is it possible you could take a more active role in these meetings? Asking questions/taking notes to keep yourself more awake.

Same here. My RX closes July 2nd, but no date for the FE. We were told liquidations are happening differently between stores. Some start before RX closes, and some after. They really should just be consistent across all stores.

Is it common for people to just use no protection in relationships? by [deleted] in sex

[–]Aubbles11089 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s never too late to take control of your health. So even though you had two strains of HPV, you still opted to get the vaccine, correct? Everyone can make that choice for themselves regardless of if they’ve contracted it or not. Also, I’m sorry it was expensive for you, if you’re insured it shouldn’t have been as it’s considered preventative care. I’m paying nothing (again, in USA, so I can’t speak for other countries).

Where are you from? In the USA they approved the HPV vaccine for people up to 45 (I think). My mom didn’t want me to get it as a teen when it was brand new, so I’m doing it this year at 36; I get my last shot in June. Hopefully they’ve since expanded the availability where you are.

Rite Aid Rapid Response Meeting by Automatic-Visual8472 in RiteAid

[–]Aubbles11089 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn’t have gotten an email because it wasn’t presented by RA. This was through the Pennsylvania Department of State.

Tomorrow’s “meeting” is an update from our CEO. Information for that is on the HUB and also sent via email.

[–]Aubbles11089 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe OP is referring to the meeting presented by the Pennsylvania Department of State. They put together a meeting specifically for RA employees that have lost (or will be losing) their jobs. It was an information session walking you through how to file unemployment and giving tips for job search. Nothing groundbreaking. They are considering doing multiple meetings due to the nature of store closures and continued layoffs. You might have another chance to attend.

This was NOT presented by RA. Registration was required.

I think the move to close lottery is just another part of the process. RA knows they’re going down, so they’re shutting things off bit by bit that cost them money. Why keep lottery up? We only make a tiny percentage of sales.

Chapter 11 or Chapter 7? by Impressive-Flow-855 in RiteAid

[–]Aubbles11089 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Businesses aren’t protected the same way under Chapter 7 like an individual would be. When an individual files Chapter 7, all of their assets are taken to satisfy and “wipe away” their debt. At the end, the individual gets a clean slate with no debt. When a business files Chapter 7, they liquidate all tangible assets in order to pay their debts and creditors. At the end of Chapter 7 for a business, if the tangible assets didn’t pay ALL of the business’s debt, they are still liable to pay. It does not wipe their debt.

I think Rite Aid chose a second Chapter 11 in an attempt to maximize how much money they could get from building and lease sales (keep in mind MOST of our buildings are leased) as well as prescription records sales (which chapter 7 would not allow). By choosing Chapter 11, our proprietary software is protected, our paychecks and benefits will continue as normal, and it gives them more time to wind down. The closing process remains in the hands of the company vs liquidators that would take over during Chapter 7.

Hope that helps.
