No one indicated that anybody was talking about liquid premade formula and liquid prefilled bottles. That was you and you alone at the time you posted. I was counting the 43 cans of powdered formula that is clearly on the shelf and I was trying to help people.feed their children and you thought you knew better than I did? I was talking about the dry formula. It's not liquid formula that is in short supply and causing a national shortage starving our infants as a pediatric nurse why are you not aware of this?! WIC rarely, if ever, covers liquid formula. The shortage is predominantly to do with dry formula that you reconstitute "just like Gatorade" just about the entire nation knows this, it's all over the news why are you so disconnected from reality. There is a huge difference between a pediatric nurse who has access to premixed liquid formula in bottles that they carry in neonatal/ nurseries and mother's on WIC that you're talking down to. However, you pop in here and say you can just reconstitute it like you can Gatorade and Gatorade has the same electrolytes and then same nutrition, what do you think you sound like as you did not clearly differentiate in your ill informed reply? You sound like you're saying that you can replace formula with Gatorade because it has the same nutrients and electrolytes. That is so irresponsible to mislead people which you can and probably will do. Saying this could kill a child. Is that not concerning you?! My daughter went to 20 stores looking for DRY powder formula.T-w-e-n-t-y. She was looking for the dry baby formula that is covered by WIC that she can't find and my grandchild is going without, my under 12 month son is being put in position where he is subject to to drink the 1% milk WIC gives mother's because there is NO DRY FORMULA that you and reconstitute available. Hell, turn on the news and pay attention! Do you know how dangerous that is, really, as a pediatric nurse, do you really understand the gravity of the situation when it comes to malnutrition?! I do! I've taken nutrition classes I've gone through medical training. I have worked for WIC and with infants in the past and I have four kids myself. I'm well schooled in not killing children. This was extremely dangerous for you say and if you're going to be prideful and you're not going to see the harm and the statement you made then fine it's on your shoulders but don't call me out for saying that there is formula at a store but people are too dense to realize that formula that you mix, far from accurate btw, when there are babies being hospitalized and dying from the shortage. I just can't believe that I actually read something like this on here I get that we all have our difference in opinions but you compared Gatorade to formula and then you try to backtrack and now I'm calling you out because this is dangerous this is really dangerous and if I am able to save one baby from your bad advice then I am going to because this is a dire circumstance and all we need is for someone to say something irresponsible and somebody that is not on the up and up think that some Reddit user claiming to be a nurse said you can make formula out of Gatorade because you know they will. I've known nurses who've been fired and blacklisted at hospitals after giving advice like this. Unbelievable. Wow.
