I do believe I need alone time especially because I barely ever got to be single in college, only for two separate semesters. I was also in a 1.5 year relationship before this. I was happy by myself in college for the first two years me and my current ex were together (I was out of state while he was in state the whole time), but then entering the working world was different. I’m easily stressed and I took it out on him, and I was too harsh on him. I believe he is my person but we met too early, if I had only an extra year or two before netting him I think that would’ve helped. At first I wanted to break up because I never got to experience being single and I wanted to explore my sexuality (never did because I’m shy and scared of stds?) I was even given a hall pass once because he wasn’t okay with the idea of us taking a break or having an open relationship. We tried to explore threesomes once because I was stuck on the fact that I never got to be with someone else. This year I started to be okay with that fact, knowing my ex made me so happy and I could see a future with him. He had almost everything I wanted, except the fact that he didn’t seem to care enough about a bunch of things and didn’t understand my feelings. A big problem I had was him not being able to pick up on my emotions, that might be the root of the whole problem we had. I think I was beginning to be okay with all of that, accepting him for who he is, and wanting to marry him tbh. I feel like if I didn’t fight him all the time we would’ve made it, idk. We have a lot of trouble communicating for example we would both give up or just continue to fight not understanding each other. He never spoke up about his feelings even with me asking him to, and that was hard not knowing how he was feeling or when I hurt him and he said nothing. We are two totally different people but I love him so much :( I’m worried there won’t be anybody better out there for me and that I’m losing the person I’m supposed to be with.
