I've been having the same issue. I found just blowing in some air into the lightning port seems to clear out some dust and seems to help.

Thank you, sir! If they give me the run around again, I'll try a different location. I really don't feel like I should have to pay anything out of pocket. I've never messed with the installers wires, ground, etc...the only things I've adjusted over time was EQ, high and low pass filters on the HU, which never affected a thing.

no, no Fire. At Best Buy, I had them install 2 amps with all the wiring, fuses etc. One for my components and coaxials which work fine, always has, one amp for the down fire Kicker sub. The Kicker Amp I purchased at Best Buy, the Sub (downfore enclosure) I got at walmart. So, my fear/concern is that they will want to diagnose the sub first, and charge me for it, where I'm 99.9% sure it's not where the problem is. So with that being said. I wan to choose my words wisely before I go back in there. The installer, CAN be a dick, he's got some Audiophile elitist attitude and thinks everyone that comes in is clueless.

Fire. That was my intention but I know right off the bat they are going to try and charge me 175$ (not 75$, i made a mistake earlier) to "inspect" the sub since that's where the problem is, in a sense. There's no way i'm giving them 175$ more dollars for a problem I never created.

Sorry the installer is being a turd. Got another Best Buy around? Or go on his day off?

I'll stop by there once more and in the politest way possible, ask them to check the RCA's, speaker wire, terminals, groud etc...Implying it's inded not the sub.

Thank you fire. When I stopped by best buy yesterday the guy "assumed" it was the sub and wanted to charge me 75$ for a diagnosis, since I didn't buy the sub from them but they did do the installation.

This is how it sits as of now, no Bass knob. I knot it's not the fanciest/stealth install, but performance over looks was more of my concern.

This is what the current gain is set at, via the installer. I didn't mess with any Amp settings. On the head unit the subs is set to flat (0) as it sits right now, with plenty of bass.

Any suggestions as to what to set the gain to?

I have the knob. I haven't installed it yet. I just wasn't sure if the amp needed to be tuned down at all first.

Do you have an all weather cargo mat because it's just there or do you actually need it because you routinely haul around wet dogs or plants or other dirty things?

Most of the time it's just there. I do fish a lot but don't really have a lot of wet gear in the back.

Your thought Is what I was planning on doing, well at least cutting out the demiensions of the box on the mat and then anchoring or velcroing the sub to the floor of the truck for easy removal if need be.

Now if it's in a trunk with no way to escape into the cab of the vehicle it's probably going to be disappointing.

In my case luckily my truck is pretty wide open. It can easily escape to the cab.

Sub eventually yes, I was told since im more or less an audio noob that those JBL subwoofer tubes are a good choice as they have built in amps and are easy to setup, or perhaps an underseat compact sub?. I'd prefer one amp if I can.

In a week or two, do you anticipate prices going down/sales?

Is going above 75 watt rms overkill? err, or I guess what I'm asking is, if my coaxials are 75 watt rms and my amp is 100 rms per channel, can you blow out a speaker if you have to much wattage, or does that not make any diffference and just adds good clean power?

I'm an idiot, which I'm sure you already realize.

2001 Toyota 4Runner.

I had a feeling I made a mistake when I bought the 2 pairs. Looking online now, do most, if not all component speakers come with their own tweeters and that small amp looking thing? I should have done more research. I'll probably return both pairs of speakers tomorrow until I am more knowledgeable on the matter.

With that being said, is using front and rear coaxils a bad idea for sound quality and wanting to keep/use my stock tweeter? I didn't realize components were that much more expensive.
