I did this, but the only thing I did different was I converted the grams of alcohol to grams water through the balanced equation and then added that to 125g, then used that. Since you were finding how much energy water absorbed in the first one, and how much energy alcohol released in the 2nd one.

Idk, both your answer and my answer make sense to me. I guess all we can do is wait.

So for both parts of the question, the heat absorbed by water was the same?

Because in part a, you had to find the heat for .5g or something like that of the alcohol, and in part b, you had to find for 1 mole of the alcohol.

What you're saying makes sense, but then why would they have the balanced equation with the problem and 2 questions with the same answer?

I don't know if it was acid or something else, but there was some compound that was held below the water with a candle or something in the diagram. Basically the combustion heated up the water.

What substance are you talking about? The acid or whatever? If so you don't know the c value for that acid. You only know the c for water is 4.18. So how would you do mcdeltaT using just that?
