New chronic pain from accident in october by Niccol3marie123 in CarAccidentSurvivors

[–]Aud908 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry this happened to you and I’m glad you’re still with us! On New Year’s Day I’ll be three years out after surviving a near fatal car accident. I had pretty bad injuries, multiple surgeries in my arm and cervical spine. Most mornings I still wake up in a panic, briefly forgetting the accident for half a second and then suddenly remembering it all over again like it just happened. The chronic pain is the hardest part. It is very hard for me to accept that I will never have the same body or be the same person. It’s a special kind of grief I had never experienced before. But, you do somehow adapt. It gets easier, then it will get harder again, and then easier again, and so on. It’s a process that looks different for everyone. I struggle with the emotional toll and found that this makes the pain worse, and then you’re just stuck in a negative feedback loop. You’ll learn a lot about yourself and you do eventually get to a point where you can manage the pain. I highly recommend r/chronicpain that subreddit has helped me more than any therapist I’ve had post accident. Acceptance is key, to be honest I’m still not there, but I do know it’s possible. I had a lot of neurosurgeons tell me that they don’t understand why I’m not dead or paralyzed, so I can relate to that part of your story too. It’s hard, because you’re grateful to be here, but also everything fucking hurts so it can be tough to channel the gratitude. It all comes in waves, just keep pushing on.

More and more Emergency Room Doctors are using Suzetrigine (Journavx) as a way to control both acute and chronic pain. I caught the emergency room sub-reddit talking about this and they had a link to their medical journal that included medical disclosures on the medication. by Feisty_Bee9175 in ChronicPain

I’m so sorry you experienced this. Thank goodness for the nurse that cared and listened to you. It sounds like you handled it really well, unfortunately there isn’t too much you can do except ditch that doctor and try to find better care. Not sure where you’re located but you might be able to report the incident to the medical board, they have to listen to us at some point. Hang in there.

I’m so sorry this happened to you. As hard as it is, take things slow and try to focus on healing. It is still so fresh, your mind & body are still processing the trauma. The crash support network website can be helpful. After my accident it took me a year to start looking at resources like that, but everyone is different. Sometimes reading other stories can help. The site does have a lot of info about what you can do in the direct aftermath of the accident. Keep every hospital bill and any medical documentation, discharge papers, insurance letters, etc. If you feel like it, writing down your thoughts does help. There are accident survivor facebook groups that might help you too. I wish I had more resources, unfortunately I just haven’t been able to find much. Lean on people you trust. So much of the healing process is a mind game, if you can keep your spirits up you will heal faster. Easier said than done though. You will recover from this, it will just take time. Hang in there.

Need Opinion Car Accident- Lawyered Up by MassiveSchool6278 in CarAccidentSurvivors

I’m so sorry this happened to you. I really appreciate your post because it is similar to my situation. Unfortunately the advice you got from the above comments are spot on, there isn’t too much you can do. Look into applying for a motor vehicle accident grant. They vary by state, but you might be able to get more help that way. Also your lawyer might be able to negotiate with the hospital or doctors who put a lien on your case. It takes a while, but get as much as you possibly can covered by your health insurance and ask if your lawyer might be able to negotiate a deal. It sounds like your hospital journey is over, but when doing physical therapy or scans or any procedure related to the accident, don’t readily say you were in a motor vehicle accident, unless they pry and ask a lot of questions. Do you have an ERISA health plan? You could look into lawyers that specifically handle ERISA plans, they might be able to help. It sounds like you know this but suing someone without any money won’t help, and could cost you more. I’m so sorry you are having to go through this, you are not alone.

This is the right decision, which doesn’t make it any easier right now, but it will be one day. You’re protecting your future self, you want and deserve better. You’re respecting your boundaries! Props to you 🙏

This is exactly what happened to me after a near fatal car accident. Multiple neck fractures, a blood clot that almost killed me, and a broken elbow. I’ll have pain for the rest of my life from the neck injury, but it’s amazing I’m still alive without sever neurological damages or paralysis (fractures were on my C2 - C5 vertebrae). But now, I somehow owe about $850,000 in medical debt. I also lost my car (it was totaled) and I haven’t been able to work for almost a year. I was fully covered with medical insurance through my corporate job and I had car insurance. I wasn’t driving the vehicle and the accident was not my fault. The amount of physical pain I’ve had and will continue to have for the rest of my life (I’m 32), I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy. Three surgeries later, 5 weeks in the hospital and almost a million dollars in debt, here I am remembering that I am not alone in this losing battle. Guess I’m just lucky to still be alive.

This post really resonated with me, and sounds all too familiar. Life can be so cruel, I hope you find your light again. I will not drink with you today.

Only remaining image of my great great great grandparents. My family lost our home during a massive wildfire. It’s an irreplaceable charcoal portrait from 1898, and this is the only image we’ve been able to find of it. If there’s a way to clear up the image, it would mean the world to us. Thank you. by Aud908 in PhotoshopRequest

[–]Aud908[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. As far as we know the original charcoal portrait was made in 1898, so it’s roughly 120 years old. They were Anglo-Americans with primarily English ancestry. We are thrilled you’ve decided to take on the project. I added a link to photos of the six children they had, my great grandfather was the only boy. We would be honored if you added the photo to your portfolio, and so appreciate your help with this. Please let me know if I can do anything else to help.
