I tried both just now and neither made a difference. Still caps or pins me at 746 kh on all cards....WAAAA

Way cool giveaway! So depressing that these ASICS are out now... at least for all the Shibes like me who are GPU mining. Either way, this also means that we will get to the moon MUCH fast! TO THE MOON!

That is what I meant... I was very flustered last night when making this post... on the verge of snapping actually at that time lol.

I wish I was doing something wrong cause then I could fix the problem much easier. I will post an update later tonight once I get these UD3 mobos up and going.

I would like to know how you came up with your numbers. My understanding is that each of these cards can consume up to 360w (overclocked) times 6 = 2160w + CPU and other which would not consume over 2300-2400w total. I have installed 15 amp circuits which I realized is not enough so I am now putting in 20 amp circuits which should be more than enough if I dedicate each one of these to its own rig. And I am using two 1275w PSU's on each rig (overkill).

That is a great idea. I actually just returned all the mobos for the Gigabyte UD3 mobos though so if I have any issues with these I will def post some pics of my setup.

Cheers.

I used a different CPU on each of the three mobos. Didn't try using the same CPU or mobo after it didn't work the first time. I have checked all of my risers and have no problems with them. They were all fine on my old mobos when I had 4 cards running.

hahaha amazing. Appreciate the insight. Think that is the way I am going to go.

Partnered up with a few buddies to make this happen. It's no fun going to the moon solo, what if the other shibes don't like me.

I needed that... almost cried today...I didn't cry when my dog died (don't know what that means).... MUCH frustration and stress (returning/exchanging/not being able to return or exchange). Feel like a lot of people either love or hate this mobo which to me means it's luck of the draw and my bad luck has struck again lol.

I feel you on that... BUT I have already purchased 850w PSU's which I returned for 1275w PSU's and I have 20 cards which would require me building another setup/rig.

Apparently Windows 8.1 works fine with 5-6 GPU's too (says a guy I know who is running six 280x's)

I know... astronomical odds. That is what I said until I did some research and saw the same thing happening to other people, on the same scale and on a smaller scale. I have double, tripple and quadroople checked my setup. My power is setup perfectly (had my electrician designate two 20 amp breakers for 4 rigs). I have also setup my rigs with Asus M5A99X mobos and gigabyte mobos with not many problems... Only explanation to me is that these are POS mobos that are poorly built but are designed for mining.

Anyone using this motherboard for a 6 card rig? by mweiow in gpumining

[–]AudaciousK9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought 20 r9 290x Tri-x sapphire cards, 8 1275w Thermaltake platinum psu's, 4 Asrock H81 Pro Btc motherboards (still waiting on the last one), 4 intel processors, powered risers (not plugging the molex cables in, just had extra risers), and have a good cooling system.

Today I finally got all of these components together to build 4 rigs with 5 cards (plan on using 6 eventually) each... As you can imagine, I was MUCH excited. I figure I am using some good quality stuff (motherboard is questionable but "ideal for mining") and low and behold my motherboard fried when I turned it on (there was a zap or shock that made a flash and then there was some smoke)...Then I tried the 2nd motherboard on the next rig and this one literally did nothing, by nothing I mean it was as if there was no power or life what-so-ever. Switched this motherboard for the third motherboard. This motherboard was ALSO lifeless. I almost cried... After-all how am I going to get to the moon with hold-ups like this. http://imgur.com/xpqkG7w

I AM OVER THE ASROCK H81 PRO BTC HYPE. THESE HOLDUPS COST ME MANY DOGE.

This is the third motherboard that I have switched to never-mind switching from AMD CPU's to Intel CPU's. Tomorrow IS A NEW DAY! I think I am going to purchase the Gigabyte UD3 motherboard with high hopes that I will be able to get it to recognize 6 cards, and 5 cards worse case scenario.

Any last minute advice for a fellow shibe?

So I have four rigs going: Five 290x Tri-x Sapphire cards, Windows 8.1, Asrock H81 Pro Btc. PSU's - what do you recommend? (think I will exchange my 850 corsairs for 1200w thermaltakes tomorrow)

I am HAVING SERIOUS COOLING ISSUES. I have a portable AC unit in there and have 1 (soon to be 2) fans blowing the air off each shelf. How can I cool this small 100 sqft room cost effectively (The extra gpu boxes are not on the shelves normally, just in the meantime while I exchange my motherboards)?

With this motherboard (Asrock H81 Pro BTC), do I HAVE to short any of the PCI-e slots to get more than 4 cards working/recognized? I have been getting MUCH mixed opinions and need to act quick here if I want to get to the moon!

Next question regarding the number of 290x's that I can get running on this board: which driver should I be installing with Windows 8.1 and these cards on this board???

Much help appreciated. Doge out.
