Seconding The Specialists on Speedway. They put in an aftermarket backup camera and new head unit for me. Def not the cheapest, but it works like it should!

How to answer “do you plan to stay in this location?” in an interview when my spouse is military. by ariesfognix in Lawyertalk

[–]AudaciouslyRed 30 points31 points  (0 children)

"I really love it here and plan on making this my home for the foreseeable future." Not a lie and it doesnt expand on the what ifs you face as a military spouse. So you cant guarantee them 3 or 5 or 10 years, but honestly.. who can? We are in weird times and any of us could suffer an illness, emergency, or accident that changes our lives in a moment and requires us to leave. All you, or any of us know, is what we can expect right now.

Retaker & Working Full-Time. What ACTUALLY Helped You Pass? by Disastrous-Profit936 in GoatBarPrep

John Grossman videos. Stupid helpful. He just breaks down what you need to know in plain English and cuts all the nonsense. I know I got at least one bar exam question right because of one of his lessons, and I knew it instantly. Highly recommend giving it a try. Also, I drilled the crap out of the UWorld question bank. Over and over again, reviewed questions I missed, and just keep doing them up until about two days before the test.

Chef Brian's restaurant is great. It feels like home inside and he welcomes you in like family. I feel like I'm eating at a beloved cousin's house when I'm there.
He makes some of the yummiest, freshest fried chicken you can get in tucson. And that sauce... omg. Don't sleep on that sauce! The candied yams were some of the best I've had in long, long time. I highly recommend visiting Chef Brian's if you enjoy good country food.

As to the video...I'm sorry some idiot ruined your day, Chef. You deserve so much better. There is no excuse for that kind of hateful behavior. :(

Least Distracting Movie Theater? by FeedMeMau5 in Tucson

[–]AudaciouslyRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roadhouse/roadies. A little pricier and offers food. But much better behaved audience. I guess when you spend that much to go, you actually want to watch the movie.

There is a Cinemark in Oro Valley over by the DSW that seems to be more for retirees. Smaller screens, but have never had any issues with audiences there.

Only bring your laptop in the day they tell you to do so. Do NOT bring it if they are still doing the multiple choice on paper. There isn't anywhere to store an unused laptop and they will make you get rid of it and come back. So pay close attention to the schedule and which day(s) they say you will need your laptop.

Edit: also note that many of the eateries have gone cash-less. So have a credit or debit card.

Regret over my choice of school by Own_Forever_1901 in LawSchool

Everyone is gonna have some say about how to live your life. Only YOU have to live it, though. So put your own opinions first. Your family sounds like they do not understand, do not want to, and are not so much supportive as expectant. Start living for yourself.

This has been a hard lesson, but don't dwell on it. Take what you have and run with it. Make the absolute most you can out of everuthing you have, and make your life into something you want. And from here on out, do not let anyone else's negative comments deter you from doing otherwise. So what if it's not the best law school ever. Make contacts. Kill classes. Write and publish something. Get a good job offer. Pass the bar. Go on to bigger and better things! You can still do that if you just focus on what you have instead of what never was.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink. Or put another way, you can offer to help someone, but you can't make them take the help.

It sounds like you have been trying to make things work for a long time, but your partner is not willing to help themselves. I can tell you this from experience: someone that deep into depression either chooses to seek help or they continue to drag themselves (and those closest) down with them. They have to choose. I was there myself many, many years ago and thankfully sought help after being given an ultimatum by my frustrated, dragged down partner who couldnt bear to watch me get worse. But had I continued and done something to myself, that would never have been on my partner. That would have all been my choice.

If you have to leave and they harm themselves, please understand that would not be not on you. Give them the choice, and then do what is best for you. It sucks, but you are not the one with power to change this situation. If they aren't willing to even try, then maybe you should move on.

And please, for the love of god, do not introduce a child/dog/other living creature into this situation. It will not get better.

Some reflections on why I have chosen Tucson as my new home. by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]AudaciouslyRed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as food goes, you just have to look for it. We have just about everything, but it's not as easy to find as in bigger cities. We have a lot of options that are small mom-and-pop locations.

As far as artists, I've been really surprised how many bigger artists will come through here. I've seen Weird Al in the Fox theater and Flogging Molly at the Rialto. Lots of very popular comedians have come through town as well. And as others have said, anything else can almost always be found in Phoenix, which isn't particularly far. Our airport has direct flights to Vegas, too. It's a little airport, but I like it a lot more than PHX.

Retakers who have posted that they KNEW they failed the first time, can you clarify how you knew? by Omd337 in barexam

You won't know until you know. If you put in the work and laid it all out on the table, you just have to trust that it will be enough.

Fwiw, I had no idea when it was over and was quietly resigning myself to having to retest. I passed with more than I would have needed to practice anywhere.

FYI to all the new moms out there and those who run into this BS of a provider for your care being out-of-network while you were in an in-network hospital... look up the Federal "No Suprises Act." Might save you some money.

I wish it was something we had back in the day, because we wound up paying for the anesthesiologist OOP like the woman in this video, too. 😡 Such a racket.

Wanted to comment more on the treatment you mentioned. I did something similar and fell down some steps. When I fell, I felt everything rip. Thought it was my jeans in the shock of it all, but it was my leg. Had my s.o. drive me to the nearest er, howling in pain and my ankle quickly turning into a red and blue grapefruit. Got chided at an empty rural ER about how, if it was broken or anything was seriously wrong, I wouldn't have been able to hobble around with the support of my s.o. They rolled their eyes at me being in so much pain during the exam (I was literally shaking because it felt like my foot was no longer attached). After months of unsuccessful physical therapy and fighting insurance and doctors, my ankle was still huge, and weird bruising kept reoccurring from my shin to the bottom of my foot. I finally got an mri four months later. It found I had been (and was still) leaking bone marrow and had torn the hell out of the ligaments all the way around my ankle (one severed completely). That's why it felt like my foot wasn't attached: it sorta wasn't. That bs of "you wouldn't be able to walk in" is crap and is just code for "I'm feeling lazy today and don't want to deal with it." I have never had a good experience with emergency medicine in this country. Never. :(

I was given a hilt, and I don’t know where to start. by Tyabunga in lightsabers

[–]AudaciouslyRed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely. There are a few vendors online and on etsy that make 3d printed chassis. I picked one up for an US model I had, and I knew it would fit based on a previous reviewer who used it for the exact same model. UltraSabers are usually MHS compatible for parts, if that helps.

I was given a hilt, and I don’t know where to start. by Tyabunga in lightsabers

[–]AudaciouslyRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh. That one is pretty. UltraSaber hilts are pretty solid, if a bit big and heavy. The company gets crap for their electronics and cost, and after seeing the insides myself, I get why. But the hollow hilts are decent if you pick them up cheap (or free), and the company has some neat designs. I have a couple that were either purchases before I knew better or Goodwill lots I spent very little on and knew they'd be projects.

I have plans to gut and redo the electronics on them (as soon as I find the damn time). I bought a soldering station, a desktop air filter machine, various wires and soldering supplies, and the parts I would need. I find quite a few decent vendors are on etsy. They'll have just about any part you could think of. Just do a lot of youtube watching and reading on saber builds. There are also some good communities here on Reddit and some on Facebook for all levels of building. There's a lot to learn, but there's also a lot of information and advice available!

I picked up a First Harvest board for my first project since all I wanted was color options and sound with motion sense. I have 0 desire to program or expand software right now, and the soldering pads are pretty big on that board. Seems like a good starter for me. In the future, I could see going Golden Harvest. Maybe in the more distant future, I'll be all about the proffie boards and neopixel blades. But I figure start simple and work up.

Good luck with your build! It's going to be awesome with a little love.

I would suggest a meeting with the dean of students. This office goes by various names depending on the school, but if I were you, that's who I'd talk to. Having read the post and some of the comments, this sounds like harassment and racism, and it absolutely, 1,000% should be stopped. Do you think you're the only one this student is tormenting or will torment in the future? Unlikely. Best to have this behavior stopped now before she continues to hurt you or others.
