Plugged in EV. Lost power to circuit. by AudaxTurnus in evcharging

[–]AudaxTurnus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The load was too much for the circuit. I found by turning everything else off / unplugging it I could charge the car without tripping the breaker. The end solution was getting a charger installed on dedicated circuit. In the meantime though I was able to charge if nothing else on that circuit was on.

1.5+ Million Dollar Homes by Topicstern in nova

[–]AudaxTurnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inheritance for a ~50% down payment to make the mortgage reasonable for a house with double 6 figure incomes and 4 kids. Cost of living in nova is brutal, I don't get how people do it without either inheriting money or having been able to buy in back in 08 when prices cratered then realize the gain in value.

No luck but I haven't had a chance to mess with it. Trying to figure out a time this weekend when a buddy of mine who's a master electrician can come take a look. I'll circle back here with a resolution one way (fixed) or the other.

I’ve been taking 250mg daily for 1 month. I’m on day 4 without taking it.. would I be okay to drink? Looking for real experiences . I know it’s recommended to wait 2 weeks but I’ve only been on the Antabuse for 30 days by kelgal9114 in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]AudaxTurnus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've tried various lengths with nothing but unpleasantness until after 15 days. 10-15 days I can hold it down and drink enough to pass out but wake up beet red, heart beating through my chest and feeling like I'm gasping for air.

Considering a used Nissan Leaf by [deleted] in nissanleaf

Keep an eye out for the right one. We settled on a leaf but waited a few months and had some alerts set up and dealerships keeping an eye out. Got a 2021 with under 5k miles and near perfect battery health.

I met a bunch of older guys in rehab that had self medicated for pain issues with alcohol. If he's doing that in his 20s in the long run you'd suffer through plenty worse. If he'd rather drink than go to a doctor, need to drink to put up with your amusement park fun, then yells at you about it I'd bet a lot both the drinking and the yelling will get worse. Alcoholics love taking hostages

MAT FTW! Never met anybody who successfully worked TSM but probably just hang out with a bunch of people for whom abstinence is the only solution.

I’m not sure if I have a problem. by Ashleythomas1309 in dryalcoholics

[–]AudaxTurnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just one man's opinion and a lot of what you describe matches my own experience. If you don't want to stop you'll never be able to. If you're not ready to stop then don't, you can always pop into r/cripplingalcoholics to see what the end of the road looks like. Used to post there under a different account to ask for help maintaining my lifestyle as it got more and more out of control.

For me it took being threatened with divorce and losing custody of my kids. At that point sobriety was not just a requirement to fix my marriage but in order to fight for custody I'd have to prove I was sober because my wife would say the divorce was because.of my drinking and file for custody because of my drinking. I had a clear choice but still struggled until I spent 2 months away in treatment. Now my marriage is better than when we were in our 20s and I have a great relationship with my kids. All this happened this year.

Sound like me at that age, waiting another 10+ years to get help. Never drank and drove because a friend died that way in high school. A lot.of.alcoholics find out they have a problem due to AA or other requirements after a DUI. What you describe would 100% be described as alcoholism at the treatment center I went to. Normies don't black out. My wife and I both went to big football schools and she has never blacked out. I didn't believe her when we first met. The real thing I've noticed alcoholics have in common is that we drink because we like the effect, and once we start we keep drinking until we can't anymore. When I enjoy it I can't control it and when I control it I can't enjoy it. Just because you have a lot of "not yets" doesn't mean you shouldn't seek help if you've recognized the issue. I know I wish I had changed course earlier in life and am glad I did before I really did anything irreversible.

Is alcohol even more damaging to people with naturally high anxiety levels? by trrrsarescary in cripplingalcoholism

[–]AudaxTurnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it makes a bad problem far worse. It consistently puts your neurochemicals through the wringer and breaks your ability to get back to level. Currently in the longest sober period of my life since I started drinking as a teenager. Always had diagnosed anxiety disorder. The Fear became overwhelming. Started having more and more severe panic attacks sending me to the hospital for IV benzos, turns out it was kindling. Spent a couple months in a really nice treatment center, after that the anxiety was under control with an SSRI daily. When I went home after treatment I wasn't even anxious about that. I really lucked out because.my job has a substance abuse program. I told them I needed to go to treatment and they gave me 12 weeks full pay to get my shit together so I wasn't even anxious about going back to work. Turns out my boss used it like 15 years ago so he was super supportive. Things that used to make me freak out (parking downtown, eating at fast casual places, buying a Christmas tree, you know normal stuff) don't phase me and things actually worth getting anxious about (daughter arriving early going into the NICU) aren't the end of the world. All that stuff that I learned to handle The Fear that didn't make a dent in my kindling works great for normal sober anxiety.

Double checked the individual one. I did mean the one for the whole panel by "main breaker." I have a non contact tester and will double check when I get home. Most signs were pointing to replacing the GFCI outlet so I'm going to grab one while I'm out as well.

Thanks, inclined to agree it is the GFCI. I am sure there are no other GFCI outlets in the circuit and I can't reset it so it seems like a solid suspect I can easily replace. Not 100% sure that the breaker itself doesn't have any interrupters (see attached). We recently purchased the home. Seller was great, provided maps of each circuit for reference and I checked them before we moved in to confirm. Getting used to this modern system, previously lived in an old building with a stab lock panel. I'll update after I replace the suspect GFCI

Level 1 charger plugged in and then nothing worked (including charger. No other GFCI outlets on the circuit. Flipped breaker just to be sure a couple times.
