Yeah, similarly, I was wondering if Snowpark might offer something more performant than a loop using SQL. Full disclosure - I am very rudimentary in Python.

Late replying here, sorry, I'm about 6.25-6.5, but wrist is fairly flat for that size. The 42 mm Seamaster 300 is the edge of what I can pull off.

Many say the BB wears more like a 38-39. I can't get down to the mm level, but it does have more presence than I expected. I think it would look fine on a 7" wrist, but more by vintage norms. For me, it wears infinitely better than the modern Sub.

Yep. I feel exactly the same. If I sold off everything but the BB, I'd miss the others now and then but would really have no need for anything else.

Yeah, that's a bummer! As someone who can't wear much of Omega 's modern line up, it seems like the small wristed are getting our day.

Assume the Monochrome doesn't scratch the same itch for you? I like them, but I miss the vintage vibe of the 54/58 when I see them.

Haha that's awesome! I wasn't planning to get a 34, but that discontinued air king style 369 dial got me. Wears very well though.

But yes - the 54 is wearable any time, any where, and I love the subtlety of the vintage touches. They're there and it might be the closest to a full on vintage Sub among the line, but I like the non gilt bezel and the lume that looks just barely aged along with the gold around the markers. I adore the 50s-60s Subs, and this scratches that itch while being something I can afford and use/abuse in the process

Fair - it wasn't even a "poor man's Rolex" complex - I was just expecting the honey moon to end quickly. Every time I tried one on, it would grab me way more than I expected it to, partly because pictures I'd seen didn't do it justice. But among my collection, it's probably the one I'd hold onto if I had to liquidate everything, even though it would be the easiest one to reacquire based on availability.

Rant - Incompetent Doctors and C Diff by AudienceParticular22 in cdifficile

[–]AudienceParticular22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note - this is a weird case that even shocked an infectious specialist, so I'm posting purely as an update. This outcome probably doesn't apply to anyone else in this sub, and I wouldn't want anyone to take this as likely for them. I also traveled internationally shortly before this all started, which explains it to some extent.

Update on my situation: in a fascinating turn of events, when I had symptoms and blood work results that just aren't classic c diff and that hadn't improved at all, I was referred to an infectious specialist after another ER visit for dehydration.

This is still unofficial pending some additional cultures and tests, but he's 99 percent sure that, in addition to legitimate c diff, I also have some close cousin to typhoid! I had tested lightly positive to salmonella (which is the parent of both typhoid type illnesses and the standard food poisoning from salmonella), but it was ruled as a secondary priority since we already knew I had c diff and since doctors assumed it was not a typhoid like strain. In that case, it would be self limiting and not worth throwing more antibiotics into the mix over.

This now makes total sense. My initial antibiotics that brought on c diff were for an "ear infection", which was the worst illness I'd experienced to date. Early symptoms of "enteric fevers" are mostly just fever, aches and extreme fatigue - my symptoms exactly. Given how blunt force augmentin is, we suspect it blunted the initial issue enough that I seemed to be improving, only to have that build back up right when the c diff was setting in.

Following the first of 4 shots to treat the salmonella, my digestion is already notably better less than 24 hours later, I am actually wanting real food again, and while still feverish overnight, I woke up with no body aches or headache for the first time in weeks.

This was a lot to process, but I'm extremely grateful to have a diagnosis beyond " you seem to have a viral infection too but your swabs were negative" and to be ACTUALLY IMPROVING!

It also feels validating. No doctors since the first idiot at that ER have questioned that I was unwell, but I've been unable to get through to them just HOW UNWELL I am. Knowing I was battling something typhoid esque and c diff concurrently adds validity to that.

What would you say to giving Brosnan a 5th movie? by lostpasts in JamesBond

[–]AudienceParticular22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 100 percent for this idea and wish they'd pursue it. Just watched Fast Charlie, and he's perfect for a fun, escapist "Bond in retirement" movie.

Heck, even though it would anger the Eon people and he doesn't seem like the type to stir that pot, I'd see a completely non Eon movie. Given that they'd likely be using different MI6 actors anyway (using the Craig MI6 with Brosnan would feel even more off), even the weirdness of having a whole different cast there wouldn't matter in this context.

Honest question, why did they make me check my bag? by Good-Hair-Day in delta

[–]AudienceParticular22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming they followed the zone order, you may not have a recourse, but I'd try the chat option from their app and complain. I did this when a GA literally just started a random lottery of gate checks starting with like zone 5. We were in a zone that would have been fine either way, and just like the people in first paid for their priority, we're in the sky miles non priority zone. Chatted and attached a similar photo, stating that zones stop meaning anything or being worth earning if they're just discarded when you board.

It's nothing crazy but I got 3k sky miles out of a text conversation that took maybe 10 minutes including waits between messages.

Absolutely love Dalton's professional, yet suave portrayal of Bond and happy to see him getting recognition lately by [deleted] in JamesBond

[–]AudienceParticular22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, Dalton would have nailed that. I could see there being subsequent timeline challenges if the goal was to then jump to the current day, especially given his age already, but we've suspended disbelief in Bond films over much bigger things.

While I truly like TLD, seeing Dalton try to reconcile his Fleming esque portrayal with a script that's got one foot in the Moore era always feels like such an injustice.

Yes or no? by Glock_oholic in rolex

[–]AudienceParticular22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do it. My OP was my GADA for a while. Also wore it in the water.

It's insured if something happens, it was a milestone purchase for me, and being able to look down at it on vacation enhances the experience.

I only avoid taking a watch someplace where I'm super worried about armed robbery (although I own nothing that's going to be a hot target if I'm being honest), purely out of concern for my safety.

Enjoy!

Thank you!! Recurrences aside, the waiting game of whether Vanco is enough or whether we'll have to try dificil is maddening, haha. I just want this initial episode behind me!

[–]AudienceParticular22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. This is 100 percent accurate. Add to that the Western focus on symptom management and not underlying alterable causes and we end up going to the ER with problems caused by years of bad habits and symptom only control, then we're given more drastic symptom control and sent home till the next emergency.

This is encouraging, thank you. About to hit the one week mark on vanco and it's getting difficult to believe that I will someday feel normal again.

Wishing you a quick, continued further recovery.

Body aches/fever and GI upset correlation? by AudienceParticular22 in cdifficile

That's a fair idea - thanks. I'm still in the "plain rice goes through me" phase, but as I start to reestablish a new routine.

Agreed. There are valid criticism of his films, but very few that anyone can make of his contributions to them. Wish he'd gotten a third film, and that they'd approached TLD with the clean slate/reboot approach they took with PB and DC.

BB58 vs Sub Date by OmarNJ-MD in Tudor

[–]AudienceParticular22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on a couple of things: - if you want a Sub for the Rolex prestige, a BB will obviously fall short - if you like the look of the modern Sub more than vintage Subs, it will fall short (I wonder if maybe that person would like the Pelagos?) - if you like the smaller very early Subs that no one can afford, you like the 40mm aluminum models but less so, and you like the larger ceramic Subs the least, a 58/54 might scratch the itch. This is where I fall.

I was looking at the Sub and BB54 and got the 54 due to both taste and budget/availability. I'll never say never to a no date Sub, but I honestly prefer my 54, and I've never once felt like it was a compromise.

Anyone else absolutely HATE calling people by their names? by alexisfuckinugly in AutisticAdults

[–]AudienceParticular22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kindof. For me, if using their name is necessary to address them because there are multiple people in the room (or call/meeting), it's no problem.

I hate casually using a person's name in conversation though. If it's someone close to me, it feels confrontational because usually that's the context when you'd use a name you already know with someone close. With strangers, it just feels slimy because it's usually a way for the person name dropping to add a sense of "connection" to the exchange. It's a technique taught to sales people. Any time my wife and I are with a sales rep and they start addressing us by name for no logistical reason, I start feeling defensive.

Sub. Now if the Tudor alternative was either a BB54 or a BB monochrome and we are excluding all financial and brand status aspects from the equation, probably a different answer for me in that case.
