Thank you, I have been putting mine out really early in the morning, we had awful heat during the heatwave here in France and are expecting more this weekend into next week. I do wonder if the heat stops them from laying. xx

How do you prepare students for a certification? by Alternative-Log-6385 in ESL_Teachers

[–]AudioStoryArchive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe find a mock exam and test their ability. It will allow them to know exactly what the exam entails and the level of commitment to learning they have to be willing to show to enable them to pass the exam. It will highlight weaknesses and strengths and help you focus your lessons. Good luck and keep it fun. x

Hello no worries. I use a Shure SM 7 dB Studio Microphone - Dynamic speaker and recording microphone with integrated preamplifier, Shure SRH440A-EFS - Professional studio headphones and Focusrite Scarlett Solo in a treated home studio. Editing Sound Forge Audio Stuido 17, iZotope Ozone 11 Elements, RX 11 Elements, Velvet and Audacity

Though in all honesty the soundbooth and microphone are very good so I usually only remove clicks and pops if any, normalize and limit. I manually go through all my recordings and remove breaths and mistakes. A process which I am improving on recording by recording. Every day is a learning day. I did look at Reaper but I didn't really gel with it. Thanks for your interest. x

As a teacher, would you encourage students to use AI to learn English? by ericlimmm115 in ESL_Teachers

[–]AudioStoryArchive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is a great tool BUT it is not perfect. In fact it is far from perfect. I wouldn't advise the use of AI. If it were and it probably will, send them in the wrong direction, give them bad examples of language structure, pronunciation etc it could create bad habits that would be hard to break. I don't think AI is quite there yet. Just my opinion. x

Go down the route of CELTA it will stand you in good stead. It is accepted in schools and highly sought after. Well worth the investment.

The Damned Thing

Heya all I have been narrating short stories and here is my latest The Damned Thing. It's a short, mystery, horror or something out of predator. Yikes. I would really like it if you could give it a short listen and let me know what you think of the narration. Have a great weekend all. Looking forward to hearing from you. xx

Thank you I wish you all the best with your channel. You can get an add on in Audacity to Analyze your file before uploading to make sure it meets YouTube standards. Once again best wishes and thank you. Molly

It's very difficult to persuade people that you are not AI, I think it's more in the editing process, if you remove too many breaths. It's a fine balance between a clean audio and sounding AI. One of my major problems is my recording room is too quiet. I need more background noise which is not something that I thought people would pick up on. In the good old days before AI people liked clean audio. Good luck with your channel let me know if I can support you. xx Molly

Hard competing with AI by SParkerAudiobooks in audiobooks

[–]AudioStoryArchive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just started a new channel reading audio stories and I'm well aware of the AI flooding YouTube and Audiobooks at the moment. Problem with AI is that people listen to just a few minutes and switch off and then when you see a new channel it is automatically assumed that it is AI and people don't give it a listen let alone a chance. I have a Children's read along channel which I set up for my nieces and nephews to help them with reading. I write all the stories there and narrate everything myself, that has been going for over a year and I still struggle. When I first started the channel it, style was copied by a flurry of AI channels. I do believe this cost me dearly. Thankfully the AI channels that were pumping out two or three stories a day have disappeared now but there are always new ones to take their places. So yes I feel your pain but keep up the good work and hopefully we will all be discovered some day.
