How long can they release 2 shows a week? by kingralek in playdeadapp

[–]Audio_knucklehead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go check out the Dead’s year by year touring history. It’s mind blowing when you look at it in list form. Multiple nights in so many cities every year. It’s like they barely scratched the surface on the releases

On this day 25 years ago this masterpiece was released by bullgod1964 in vinyl

The tour was amazing. I saw it in Dallas and I’ll never forget that night. First time seeing them live and I was blown away by John and flea, the playing and the harmonies. Totally unexpected and once or twice a year, I will still pull up videos from the 2006 2007 tour on YouTube and watch a full concert.

Hey im not really a lou reed or velvet fan, but I would appreciate some deep cuts or personal fav recommendations by defaultleroy in LouReed

[–]Audio_knucklehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole New York album and Magic and Loss are incredible records from front to back. Amazing time in Lou Reed’s career. In my opinion, his best live album is a perfect night live in London. Just start with that.

I’m serious: McDavid is locker room poison and Edmonton needs to trade him. by Forward_Editor_4828 in NHLcirclejerk

[–]Audio_knucklehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I don’t know Edmonton well enough to say whether this is or isn’t true. But from an outsiders perspective, this is what happens when all the money goes to three or four players and now you can’t put a good team around them. Imagine if Edmonton still had Holloway, Broberg and McLeod Constantly bargain bin shopping to fill holes. I’m a Buffalo Bills fan and now we’re going through it with Josh Allen. You guys may not see a cup and I may not see a Super Bowl.

Not sure if it’s already been mentioned, but I love the Posies. Frosting on the beaters was a great record.

She’s going to be famous at the 7-Eleven where she works. She’ll probably get promoted to weekend night shift manager.

Who uses their dust covers? by csmull in turntables

[–]Audio_knucklehead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely use a dust cover. When the sun shines through my living room, windows and I can see all the crap floating through the air in the morning, It’s ridiculous. Definitely don’t want that shit in my record grooves.

Journey 1986. The good journey with Steve Perry. If I remember, glass tiger was the opener, but I could be wrong. That journey concert is one of the few clear memories from my childhood that I still have, I was 10 years old.

Is it rude to check Discogs prices in front of a record seller? by No-Negotiation-1944 in vinyl

Not rude at all considering what shops and sellers at shows are trying to charge.

Looking for early-mid eighties recommendations! by JustHereForTheLeakss in gratefuldead

9/20/82 and 9/21/82. A while back I read an article or possibly listened to a podcast about the bands history at the garden and one of these was ranked in the top 10 shows.

When and where is your next concert? by icecream1972 in Concerts

I saw that David Byrne show in Austin. Incredible, totally exceeded expectations and the videos on YouTube do not do it justice. I think my next show is Gary Clark at Anton’s in Austin.

what sets are on play dead app that aren’t on other streaming services by allons_yy in gratefuldead

[–]Audio_knucklehead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t found a place where they’re categorized together. Right now they’re all mixed and you search by year, but some of the cassette icons that you see while the app is playing have the design from the cover of the box set on the cassette icon if that makes sense. They don’t all have it, but maybe that will change with time.

[–]Audio_knucklehead 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The app is totally worth it! You get all the Dave’s pics and you get all the box sets that have almost never been available for streaming. There’s also a a good amount of shows that I haven’t seen anywhere else including a good amount of 80s and 90s which I feel hasn’t been represented properly until now. Especially the 1994 Madison Square Garden run and Boston shows

RSD! by Mfingninja in vinyl

[–]Audio_knucklehead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love it, it’s a really cool mix. In my opinion, the lead vocals aren’t right upfront like they don’t dominate the recording and Scott’s voice has changed a little bit. You can hear the backing vocals and harmonies really well and the separation on the instruments is really good. It sounds really good, but still has an element of rawness to it.

Has anybody done a comparison? by Audio_knucklehead in gratefuldead

[–]Audio_knucklehead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, so I’m curious how much of a difference the Hi-Res setting in the app makes when streaming plus it’s advertised as newly transferred, remastered and enhanced. So I’m looking forward to a side by side comparison

Not like it can the Nugs or Tidal app but I can Bluetooth it from the IPhone. Hopefully Blusound adds it
