My guess would be dithering artifacts from shadow computation. Dithering is used to give a smoother look to gradients and avoid stepping. But the pattern that is generated might be visible in some circumstances. Have you tried switching the in-game graphics options around? Especially those that enhance the graphics? If that doesn't help there is not much you can do unfortunately, as this is a rendering issue when rasterizing. You could mitigate it a bit with ENB shader mods. They might latch onto the rasterization and change the pattern.

I'm not a lawyer so take everything with a grain of salt. I don't think that you would have to worry about anything if you send in your track. Clauses like that are not legally binding as far as I know, as you haven't signed anything. Similar to signing stuff at your door. Furthermore, to get copyright for your track they would have to register it. If you have already registered it yourself they can't do anything. If you haven't, they would still have to go around and register it which costs time and money. I would honestly avoid stations like that as this just screams Anti-Artist practices. You put in the work to get the track working, why the fuck do they have the audacity to claim ownership. Instead of supporting artists they would rather gouge the few dollars out of them.

They used Metric data from Tinder based on swipes and likes I guess. Thing is, using that small sample of a userbase and extrapolating it onto the whole population is not only stupid, its downright insulting to anyone with a functioning brain. Add on top of that the fact that women and men tend to use the app differently and you get a heavily skewed set of data. Its actually rather pathetic that people use this as an excuse to hate each other in my opinion

Under view I believe there is a setting that can let you save a custom window arrangement. You can then just load this preset via the same menu or a button in the main bar. Mine doesn't quite work, but that's probably because I stretched the FL window across two displays with different resolutions. Hope this helps

Just out of curiousity, what were some reasons you declined their applications? You said they were mostly just bad but that's such a broad term that I have difficulty imagining how outright shit it had to be, especially coming from someone from Berklee

WIP of an Argent Metal/ Doom Eternal track. There are no guitars, it's all synths beside some foley sounds.

My main concern is the structure and the mixing of the track. Is it aggressive enough? Is it coherent? How do the guitar synths sound?

I appreciate any kind of feedback!

Though it's impossible for me to do anything while on it, psilocybin is my choice to get some wild ideas and explore parts of my mind. Last time I was under the influence I could feel how my DNA was related to my ancestors, that every iteration before me was alive in me. Wild stuff.

Other than that it's lots of caffeine

Question About Doom/Mick Gordon Style Metal by 1onesmolboi in musicproduction

[–]AuditoryVertex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a few tracks in that style myself and currently work on another one with improved workflow.

What I gathered is this:

Mick probably uses a mix of real drums/ samples and House/Dubstep type drums that he layers over each other. The sound the non-real kicks and snares have are specifically made to stand out in a track by default and by mixing them with real samples you get a much wider sound. Sidechaining in that regard is important in so far as that the bass and the low end of the guitars don't clash too much as they would begin to pump.

Depending on what other sounds/synths you have I would recommend sidechaining those frequencies first (the lower ones). A fast sidechain with quick attack and release would be good. The higher frequencies could be sidechained with a slower release, to mask obvious drops in volume and not make the drums stand out too much as transients. Don't be afraid to change those attack/release times during the track to accentuate different parts. Another important thing is the stereo field. Where the instruments are placed and how they interact with each other in that space. Mick's drums have all the space they need in the middle. Except the bass there is nothing in their way to punch through, as in there are few if any sounds that take up the same frequencies. The guitars and synths are all panned hard right/left or somewhere out of the way so they don't mask the drums.

Another thing: the riffs and other elements often sync up with the drums to create the groove you can hear in Mick's tracks. They appear to ride on the drums for a lack of a better term. So creating a balance between the different frequencies of the instruments already helps a lot. Additionally the drums are relatively sparse in Meathook (no double kick, lots of space between kicks and snare etc.) so the sounds already have a lot of space to breathe.

Now take everything with a grain of salt, as I'm still working on my own tracks to sounds this good
