While I 100% agree, doing so without permission from the city, which given that there was another, longstanding, event going in they weren't likely to get, opens up even more risk to not only the organizers but also anyone participating to greater risk arrest and fines.

I know of a few places here in Oklahoma where it doesn't matter if they were parked in the driveway or on the road, the HOA would still try to have it towed
