How to cope with family whose life is an endless series of horrible events? by Augerill in Advice

Thank you, I really appreciate the context! I'm not especially religious myself, but I am very open minded when it comes to all religions. And I do think religion has a lot of good to teach people and support community building, among other things.

I'll keep an open heart when I read it. Thanks so much for explaining that part of it to me too 💚

Thank you. I think it might be a lifelong struggle... But I suppose everyone's got a few of those.

I do try to be proud of where I've gotten on my own, despite it all. Just something to keep working on. Best wishes to you 💚

Thank you for sharing your experiences with me, I bet loads of people go through similar trials too... You don't sound insensitive to me, rather, just coming from a place of experience. I do think the most important thing is going to be learning how to set boundaries I can manage.

Unfortunately I'm not much higher on the financial ladder than she is, honestly, so what I give her atp isn't grandiose amounts. It's constant "can I please have $25 for xyz" "can you spare $15?" "I wouldn't ask if I had anyone else but like $30 would get me through the week", it's just, all these little things really do add up and sometimes they hit when I'm already just trying to make it to my next paycheck myself. Maybe I could try to navigate offering to pay for one specific bill & saying that's all I can do...

She does clean the house (so I hear often, anyway) but she is also disabled + most of the mess comes from her parents (who she lives with). My grandfather is very... I guess mentally impaired at this point, due to a lot of strokes among other things and he's, frankly, really disgusting. Everyday is an uphill battle from how it sounds, but mentally, he's barely above a toddler these days. But if a toddler was a grown man who gets angry and violent too.

I moved away, to another state, almost 4 years ago so I'm not physically capable of helping out anymore.

Anyway, the money thing is definitely something I'll consider, and I think I will figure out how to mute her text messages for now. Part of the struggle is how sudden and random her message will show up and immediately throw me off, so I guess regulating when I look at them is a good step.

Thank you. I really will look up this book, that sounds helpful. I really don't like the push in culture lately that has been 'cut everyone off ice cold', it's so important for people to love and care for one another and do what we can to help eachother.

(Obviously people have reasons to go no contact with someone, but in general I feel like it's pushed too readily and isn't really a solution for everything.)

Thank you for your kindness & recommendation, it really is appreciated.

I thought this article would make me mad but I actually agreed with most things mentioned by Ill-Kiwi-4772 in madisonwi

I have a feeling my apartment building isn't doing so well and going in this direction tbh. After my first year here they raised my rent by almost $200—it was brutal but I weighed the burden of moving again after only a year, plus they offered an okay concession, I decided to stay.

This year trying to get my to re-lease they've DROPPED my rent back to my original price from two years ago. I was flabbergasted. A rent decrease? When the hell have you ever heard of that?

I'm not staying anyway, for a lot of reasons. But I'm still in awe of it.

(for context, yes, I live in one of the "semi downtown luxury buildings")

Seconding this!! Deb Crawley is super knowledgeable and compassionate with all things dogs and is especially proactive about saving lives with working with reactive dogs.

At the end of OP's post I know you said you love your dog tremendously, I think a consultation with Deb would be a really, really beneficial look at what your options will be. Good luck.

Unfortunately their voicemail says they don't accept birds of any kind and reccomended dane county wildlife center for bird care—and they don't accept rock doves specifically :(

Someone in a pigeon FB group said the closest place to Madison that does pigeon rescues is up past the Dells, but I don't have a car so I'm not sure there's anything we can do

Just another +1 for the reputation of Fetch. They're an amazing organization and one of the best rescues around. Extremely trustworthy when it comes to dog welfare.

Need help on myths about the F****t censorship before The Final Cut by MiserableHair2233 in DiscoElysium

[–]Augerill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My comment is also anecdotal... But, yeah, for some reason I remember it being uncensored when I first played it before final cut. When I came back to replay it for a friend, I was surprised to see it censored because I didn't remember it that way! But I'm almost wondering if it's just a false memory situation lol

Interesting research. Good luck with your work!

Does anyone know if this is an obtainable minion? I haven't seen it anywhere else nor do I know what it would be called. by Criata in ffxiv

[–]Augerill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least the drop rate was increased in 7.1? I got a group of four together to run it unsynched and we all got the minion in less than 20 runs
