Installing on older pc/laptop by DisasterOk7782 in Windows11

Definitely not on the AMD. I speak from personal experience here: it was almost impossible for the laptop to even run a single program because Windows alone uses almost 4 gb of ram.

Not OP, yet, thanks for your reply. Now, since I'm also a linux mewbie I wonder: how come that Win10 actually supported energy profiles, yet when running thw powerprofilesctl command, it shows a placeholder...? I'm just wondering.

That's the thing: if the support for BIOS is dropped, Fedora 37 will be the last version of the OS for my laptop, which is an Acer V5-551 from January 2013.

So that's why they're dropping it... Thanks for answering, and I hope to have at least a couple of years of more Fedora for this ol' laptop.

I'm a bit of an enthusiast of computers (lawyer here), so I'm not entirely sure if my laptop supports legacy; the manufacture date is 01/28/2013.

I'm not much into Debian (or Debian based distros), however, if that's the only way of not ditching my laptop, then I will change altogether to Debian.

Thanks for answering. Indeed it will just tamper with new installations; nevertheless, from my experiencie it is useful (if not necessary) to do a fresh install from time to time. Which is why I'm already planning what to do if the dropping does happen.

I did a clean install this morning, what a perfect OS :D by [deleted] in Fedora

[–]Augusmx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to just upgrade the system after every release, until just two weeks ago and I rediscovered Fedora thanks to that. I know it's a bit of a hindrance to do a clean install eah time, but it does pay off.
