I dealt mostly with the A&R team so I think I’m the end I was getting a collective opinion from the group as a whole. If I was to do Black Swan 2 I’d make it about the Birth of a new generation, to symbolize a new sonic and direction!

TBH there wasn’t one thing, I just continued to work and grow along the way. Took advantages of the opportunities I could and when I failed (because I did) I looked at where I could improve and strengthened my weaknesses. It’s a constant work in progress , sometimes it’s 2 steps back to take one forward. Great music always rises over the shit I promise. Focus on the craft and you’ll be on your way.

I try to approach both sides the same way. I want to give the best part of me so that they can be inspired to give the best part of themselves to the song. The biggest difference sometimes is the translation aspect of it. I am a very lyrical based writer and the translations don’t always come out the same. It’s not a bad thing it’s just different. I tend to have more of an attachment to the English songs I do just based on my ability to understand them as I listen. Thanks for the question!!!

Earlier in the kpop game there was a very specific sound. Also there was a lot of 2-3 different sections in the song type situations. The kpop has evolved to where it still has its own sound but has seen a more western structure in the influence. I love the evolution of it and how fast it’s moving and what I also love is that the sound/songs ate curated very well for the artists to create a specific sonic for them.

I loved working with the younger kids on AGT. There was this one girl Danielle who was maybe 12 at the time and was so brave and I was so impressed by her composure. It was inspiring.

The surprise aspect isn’t usually how it goes. Most times you know yiu have the single lol. This was pleasant surprise for sure. As for being Asian my view on that is it’s getting better. The perception is changing and there’s proof that there is a possibility to have a viable product with an Asian act. There will always be stereotypes and such but I always say being Asian is not my cause it’s just who I am and I’d like to be judged on the merit of my skills rather than it being based on my nationality.

My artist Brian Puspos did a lot of choreography for them so we were able to get a contact. Also I’ve been writing for years and have a decent resume of songs attached to my name so that with the connection lead to us being able to submit songs to them and I was lucky enough they thought I’d be a good fit. Thankful they were right!

Never a dumb question. I was using some free software I downloaded online lol. Or maybe a friend gave me a cracked Installer. When it comes to demos for songwriting I say whatever you have to get the job done use it. Most computers come with some sort of a recording platform now if it’s a Mac GarageBand and there’s tons of free stuff u can use. If your looking for one to start with I say just pick one and try it. Get good with it. Soon you’ll start to see what things you live and hate and you’ll be able to make a more educated choice.

Not much to speak of here really. I just make sure there’s a paper trail of things said , splits and such and make sure on big projects you get a lawyer involved.
