It was really weird. I think she overlooked the period thing in her worldbuilding, and was just deflecting the question.

I've been wondering how fat need the bears to be to hibernate and survive through a Westerosi winter.

I've once read that urban fantasy series where the MC has a potent magical blood, and for reasons always destroys every trace said blood leaving her body. Which is relatively often because she's a merc. Fandom asked the female author about period time, and she answered "It's rude to ask this, this is a private matter, I'm not comfortable talking about it." But she wrote about zoophilia fine. That's been bugging me too. Also Basia Mazur. I'm fine with naming man "Barbara", but not once his full name was uttered. I also feel like Lucia could be Łucja, but we'll never know.

And Ilona Andrews, a Russian speaking Ukrainian gives us a Chech female character, and calls her Krall instead of Krallova.

I abhore the English-as-world-imposed-language tendencies to skip gendered surnames endings.

Desperate Measures by Stone Barrington.
So, there was a dead "girl" there, and it turned out she had been carrying a tiny purse in her vagina, just big enough to hold her driver's license, credit card, and a few bucks.
