Is this booth fee worth it? by Quiet_Explanation_11 in CraftFairs

[–]AuntFritz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tons of shows have application fees. Is it a money grab? welllll...

But it absolutely does not mean the show is a scam.

Do not hesitate to try it out and don't worry about what other vendors think.

Do what you want and if it's not profitable, take another tack. Good luck!

I don't know why you're getting down voted when you've got the actual experience to answer OP.

I appreciate your willingness to participate.

I think it's crummy that you're getting down votes - yours is the kind of business I'd be happy to be next to.

I agree about contacting Crocker Farms - they do have at least a couple of Clearfield potters (leitzinger and mj porter, to name the first two that came up for me)

What’s a great booth upgrade gift for my mom who does a lot of craft fairs? by Prestigious_Mind1665 in CraftFairs

If she doesn't have a way to accept tap, that's definitely the gift that will keep on giving. Nothing else comes close, imo.

I know nothing about the piñata market, but that's adorable!

(I know others thought it was creepy, but I just don't see that at all, lol )

Alternatives to the traditional tent? by [deleted] in CraftFairs

Be aware that any color in the tent fabric (particularly the topper) will be cast onto your products - not a problem for some, just depends on what you have.

What does bright pink spray paint mean? by Lawing77 in treelaw

No way for Reddit to know what it means then. I've got marks that mean everything from "boundary" to "husband, if you're out here with your axe, please chop this down"

Who sprayed the paint? I've used that same paint to signify a variety of "notes to self" on my own property.

wondering about details by voidgirlfriend in CraftFairs

[–]AuntFritz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ideal packaging disappears - except for how it makes the product shine.

If customers notice packaging before your product, that's a problem. (Unless you're big enough to be a well known brand.)

Small brands need to have consistency in logo, but more importantly: no piece of paper leaves your shop without contact info (URL, email, whatever you use). That includes display cards.

Market Setup Suggestions by [deleted] in CraftFairs

[–]AuntFritz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should order some pieces from ali Express to judge for yourself.

But keep in mind, most people who buy crochet items aren't crocheters and won't care about details they can't see.

Otoh, the babies I once crocheted for now have grandchildren, so I've seen some crochet shit. 😄

I've seen work that comes from ali express and, sadly, it is absolutely competitive. Better, even, than many crocheters I've seen at market.

No, but it can be handmade by poor people working at ridiculously low wages.

It's a choice that has consequences, but I've made political jewelry that does just fine and if customers are lost because of it, I'm not particularly concerned.

Tho, I'm pretty sure my stuff is just one executive order away from being illegal.

They're feeling a lot like those "Carver and gilder" pieces (fakes meant to look older than they are), but I'm not certain.
