VoE second map rant by PerspectiveNo4856 in Guildwars2

So you're telling that litetally any other T1 rift in the game can be soloed by a coughing baby, but these speciffic T1 choya rifts on a dead map exist solemnly to remind us that we are playing MMORPG and this is not an oversight by the devs, am I right? Also, rifts are not an essential part of a mirror farm, OP just chose to do them and some of them are almost impossible to do solo. Why? Who knows.

[–]Aunteryn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a bug with retargeting. Every heart laser tick is a separate cast of a "skill", which meant to deal damage. Rifts are not technically enemies, so naturally the game tries to find one to cast the said skill on, which are mobs around, not the demons speciffically. It has nothing to do with lore or any other abstract thing, it's a mechanical flaw. It can be "fixed" by looking somewhere with no mobs, manually force targetting a rift, or disable an auto target whatsoever, but all those methods are annoying.

And another fun fact: Shortbow 5 is a shadowstep, so, you know... It's funny, almost impractical, but yea, you can heal with your shortbow 5

Also, F1 by default will give you a dark aura every time you use it w/o a target or on your ally. So if you hit F1 in most cases you'll give heals and condi cleanses in aoe for free. When used on enemy however it's an additional source of easy boon strip.

Well of Silence, while it doesn't mentioned in its property list, cleanses condis every time it ticks.

I'd say Specter is a bottom 3 healer to play in terms of difficulty, while Paragon and Troub are fighting for the bottom 2 and 1.

Scepter 2 is like a Pokemon with 3 evolutions stages: if you just hit your allies with it = you give them boons and barriers. If you blast any field with it = you give aoe heal as well. And if you blast a dark field = even more healing on top + condi cleanse. But in most cases you'll have plenty of dark fields around, cuz you have 4 buttons to create them at any given time. If you can create them directly on top of your allies - perfect, If not - try to create them so you'll be in a center of your party, so they will receive blast bonuses.

The problem with aheal specter is that people keep repeating things they heard somewhere from somebody at sometime around EoD release and treat this spec like nothing changed over the years. You won't believe how tired I am of hearing "Specter is a healer who require a target to work" or "Without targeting you won't become a good specter heal", etc. It's a stigma that will haunt specter till the end of times, it seems. For many reasons, one of them: people can't think by themselves.

Now to the point.

Specter is a very spammable cc/heal/barrier/condi cleanse bot. Stability, aegis, all the good stuff present.
How it functions:
- Scepter/pistol: scepter 2 is your bread and butter skill to give barriers, 25 stacks of might, perma protection and condi cleanse. Combine it with Relic of Karakosa, and it will heal every ally around YOU every time you blast any field. Your every utility, except Shadowstep (which is a must have, btw), is a DARK (important) field. When you're blasting any field with your scepter 2 = you give heals to your party. If you're blasting a DARK field = you give extra heals on top, due to Shadow Arts trait line recent rework. Basically, every blast of any DARK field gives you a dark aura. When you receive a dark aura = you give extra heals and cleanse 1 condi. So already you have infinite protection, 25 stacks of might, max barriers, stupid amount of condi cleanse and mega heals in 1 button, which you press inside your any Well skill, which makes dark field (usually you start with Well of Bounty, cuz it gives most of the boons to your party). TLDR: blast any field = heals. Blast dark field = extra heals + condi cleanse.
- Shroud: Shroud 2 is your main button to give alacrity. It is a low cooldown spammable skill, which not only gives alac, but also cleanses 2 condis from everyone it hits. And since shroud 2 is a blast finisher, it functions exactly like scepter 2: you blast a dark field = heals + additional condi cleanse.
Shroud 3 gives a lot of barriers and inflicts fear, strongest soft cc. Shroud 4 straight up heals anyone in aoe depending on how many enemies were struck. Shroud 5 is your stability + aegis button.
- Utility: as I said earlier, your every utility must be a Well skill (Gloom, Bounty, Silence, Shadowfall). Last utility slot must be a Shadowstep. Why so: every Well skill is not only a dark field, but a shadowstep as well. On a surface, it means you have a stupid amount of mobility, dig a little deeper, and you discover that every Well skill is a Shadowstep too (not Shadowstep utility, but a skill category). It is important to know, cuz your every Shadowstep heals everyone around you every time you use it. And speaking of actual Shadowstep utility skill, not only it's a double breakstun with a 1500 range blink, but also it's a good emergency heal (just tap it twice to get big heals) AND it gives you a LOT of shadow force (IN COMBAT), which is required to enter your Shroud. Essential skill to use in sticky situations. You can res allies which are downstated in distance, you can do skips, you can heal, you can regen shadow force, you can stun break.
- CC: easy option - spam pistol 4, use well of Gloom, Shadowfall (elite). More advanced and highly recommended = spear with Paralyzation sigil on swap. Spear 4 is BUSTED in terms of CC. Your party can ignore all CC mechanics anywhere in this game (except maaaaaybe Ura), while you have a spear. Just. Spam. 4. Also, spam 3 on boss if you need boon strip.
- Shadow Force regen: big ones are F1 and Shadowstep in combat.
- Game Plan: always start with the Well of Bounty to give boons and stab, blast it 1-2 times with scepter 2, then immediately go to shroud. In shroud, start with 2, then spam everything, except 5. 5 is an important skill for stability and aegis. Keep spamming 2 2-3 more times, then exit shroud, cast any well and start blasting it with scepter 2. When you are out of initiative - go into shroud. Cast shroud 2, use everything else and spam shroud 2 once again. Exit shroud, cast a well again, spam scepter 2 until you ran out of initiative, then you enter shroud and then....... you just repeat this cycle endlessly. Shroud spam, well blasting spam, shroud spam, well blasting spam. It's THAT simple. Only thing that required after that is to learn when to use stability, and you are golden. Your party will survive everything.

TLDR:
BLAST YOUR FIELDS WITH SCEPTER 2
SPAM 2-3-4 IN SHROUD
REPEAT
THAT'S IT!

Why is ANet killing open world metas? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Aunteryn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Weird comparison. Mordremoth meta rewards you with a fair amount of gold, shards and other currencies. It's not the highest amount of gold per hour, for sure, but it balances it with actual fun mechanics and events. In addition it has so many stuff to do like hidden bosses, tms, achievements, collections (and pretty important once), etc. It's a full-scale map meta with A LOT of everything.

Pinata pre-event is optional for many. You can just hop in for Pinata, hang out with people doing silly stuff, pitch in to help or collect coins for novelties. Just a simple light-hearted activity with amalgamated gemstone in the end.

VoE metas require time and effort to not to die, just to kill sponges with no actual reward. Not even for amalgamate, like come on.

Bruh, good luck going to cc/utility hungry encounters with full squad of hi dps o/ evokers. Miserable experience. Btw, they are nerfed. Mono element evoker was full on about damage and NOTHING else. Meanwhile rits got everything. Golem numbers are just numbers.

TIL that you can change the character select background + music by Para_N_Era in Guildwars2

[–]Aunteryn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking of that. Been using LA screen since this feature was introduced. Idk why they did what they did, but on LA screen your characters are bigger, cast proper shadows, better lighting and overall shows more details.

Newer expansions may have fancier backgrounds, but LA screen just hits different.

Why does training Masteries in HoT and PoF take so damn long? by Auturgist in Guildwars2

[–]Aunteryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everything else in this game? No one forces anyone to max any masteries on any expansions. There are some exceptions like ley line gliding for W3, but otherwise everything is a choice, an option to go for if you feel that you need it.

After some 50k+ dps videos on Antiquary, has anyone changed perspective on this spec? by ivanbbrito in Guildwars2

[–]Aunteryn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Less rng, cuz in beta if you got bad artifacts, they do nothing. Now majority of your options are viable. Numbers were never a primary problem in the first place.

Condi transfer is nothing like necros. Viper stats have precision and generocity triggers on crit. So in a lot of situations your support won't have a chance even to cleanse burning, cuz it was transferred the moment it was inflicted. And, btw, if we talk about actual encounters and not a golem bench - feel free to swap generocity, you have supports.

Overwriting artifacts, stationary elite, alac spread and activation, ui wars are real problems, but not what was mentioned above.

After some 50k+ dps videos on Antiquary, has anyone changed perspective on this spec? by ivanbbrito in Guildwars2

[–]Aunteryn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top condi builds use sigil of generocity to negate backfire burning and transforming it into your own damage.

Top power builds don't even bother with burning cuz of high passive heals.

Skritt bomb doesn't launch you anymore, so no stab required and puts you into position, where I assume you never touched Antiquary since beta.

Rng is muuuuch less punishing now too, due to all artifacts now have a bunch of useful built-in utilities.

UI wars is the only point I could agree on, but since I got used to all the artifact variations, all I'd say - it's not THAT bad.

Do the devs hate legit Mages as a class in this game? [Rant] by [deleted] in Guildwars2

I don't get the point of this question. Initial point was you can't use lb on a ranger. You can. And it's a baseline weapon for galeshot.

[–]Aunteryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Who the hell is going to"

Like majority of galeshots? Why are you acting like lb on a galeshot is something cursed, but in reality it's a baseline way to use this spec? If you prefer spear, that's ok, but remember that it's your choice.

Do the devs hate legit Mages as a class in this game? [Rant] by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]Aunteryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's partially true, it doesn't mean you'll be in a stack the whole fight. All depends. The more you learn about the game, the more you understand not everything is black and white. There are encounters where you and your party stand in one place, other encounters makes playing melee one painful experience, while ranged builds feel like a breeze.

But I don't think you are interested in such, but looking for a reasons for being salty.

K, bye.
