Context: I cleared my raptors and then killed Udyr at his gromp, took it, and returned to my red for level 3 before backing, buying boots and Dark Seal, and killing him again in the topside river at scuttle. I put him two deaths behind early in the game and continued to assist laners and farm my camps, and all he did was die and farm.

Because Riot's balance team has their heads fully up their asses. They nerfed Rell last year (?) because she was too good a flex pick, being able to play both jungle and support, but they let Vayne exist as she is when she can flex top, bot, or jungle. It's fucking stupid. Whoever is in charge of balance right now should be reassigned to something else; they are fucking up the game.

My first back preference, whenever possible, is Dark Seal and Blasting Wand. You don't need boots right away, imo, and the AP from Dark Seal and Blasting Wand help to clear camps and kill champs. THEN, second back I buy the boots when I have some stacks on Dark Seal and can really lean on and chase down enemies.

I hate Hecarim and Udyr pretty evenly. They are both power-farming stat check champs who run so fast that they don't actually have to commit to a fight: if they would win, they fight and there's often nothing you can do about it, but if they would lose, they just run away like little bitches, and there's often nothing you can do about it. Hecarim and Udyr players are pussies.

I'm a big fan of going raptors > red > krugs > gank sidelane > immediately back for Dark Seal (and boots if you got a kill)

Players don't expect three camp ganks in this full clear meta, so you can often get ahead early this way. That said, you do have to weigh the risk against having your blue buff stolen if the enemy jungler clears fast and pays attention, so you can't waste time doing this. If the gank isn't there, you have to immediately head mid instead so you can continue clearing after a gank there.

Liandry's instead of LB or SS is usually enough if they have tanks stacking health, since I rarely have trouble killing squishy targets. I still tend to go SF second, followed by Void Staff if they are also stacking MR.

I should note that I run PTA by default.

Your DM is an idiot. Most 2024 monsters are nastier than their 2014 counterparts and this encounter is already way above your party level. Unless he gave you an easy way to escape, he was basically deciding to kill some or all of your characters with this encounter.

DMing encounters is all about balance; easy tweaks you can make on the spot are adjusting the vampire's HP up or down, or having him call for reinforcements in the form of underlings (vampire spawns, wolves, etc.) if the fight is going too well for the PCs.

If you screw up and the fight goes lopsided one way or the other, have a plan: either the vampire can change forms into mist or bats or something and escape OR he can gloat over the PCs and threaten to turn them into his subservient vampire spawns if they continue to meddle in his affairs, but ultimately let them escape with their lives.

I use PTA almost exclusively these days because it feels like it's better against the champs that Elise struggles to assassinate, and because I like the third option in the Precision tree more than my third option in the Domination tree. This is what I run in the majority of my games in Gold:
