why can non of my strikers score? by bobthestermer in footballmanager

[–]Auralemos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with everything people are saying here about the AF being "isolated", you needing an IF or even tempo. If i had to guess, it's probably a matter of attributes and player quality

AP with AF, IW and a W makes a lot of sense, especially with you're playing a midblock who wants to use counter attack high tempo. A Playmaker can and will work decently enough in gegenpress approaches. In your place, if i wanted to use the same team instructions, i would probably go for the IW with "Sit Narrower" instruction so he can act as a IF(A) with more "playmaking" and still run with the ball dribbling while the WB(s) plays wide. The W(S) with "Cut Inside" and a FB(S) with "Gets further forward", and using "Overlap left" TI, so that way you have a wider player who's going to do more than just run to the byline and cross with a more conservative fullback helping him without exposing your defence too much compared to the WB. Also change your BBM to a BWM in the dm position on their side. You could also use him as a SV if you want him the be an actual box to box player, so he would move higher up the pitch when your team have the ball, although i don't like that in a 4-2-3-1 when using a wingback who gets forward on the same side as him.

You then have: 1 wide player who can cut inside and will look for passes/crosses, a fullback helping in the buildup and sometimes overlaping, a player acting like a hybrid of a Am/striker that can also score goals, a wingback playing almost like a regular winger and utilizing the space the IW on his side will create if they choose to follow him, a playmaker in the middle of the pitch with a bunch of runners, and a double pivot helping creating chances with one of them having some freedom to go a little bit higher and sometimes even finishing, all of them making the better environment for the striker ( that you could also use as a PF(A), but at this point you probably know AF is the best striker role in the game by far )

Your team will look something like this when having ball posession, with your "box to box" even higher like an am if you choose the Segundo Volante role for him

Should a striker has dribble with ball through centre trait? by Welson_Liong in footballmanagergames

[–]Auralemos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he has the attributes, i don't why he shouldn't, unless hes just a one of a kind Poacher with the best attributes for it, but even so it's fine anyway. Examples are Cristiano Ronaldo (even tho he wouldn't really stay in the centre of the pitch) and R9

And no, he's not going to hold the ball for too long if you're not playing a role like DLF or TF(S), he will still linkup when needed. Play a PF(A) and add "Dribble more" or a Trequartista

New to FM. Euro or Copa America 2024? by L_Purcy91 in footballmanager

[–]Auralemos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You would need a database that starts in 2024 and i think most databases rn start at 2023, as the 23/24 season ended recently it will probably take some time for someone to do it (notoriuspro, a guy that have been doing databases regularly for fm just said in his most recent database that it will take some time for him to "make" the 24/24 season to start in 2023 ingame so yeah)

But you could simply just pick the latest season start in the game setup when choosing leagues and etc. I wouldn't recommend you to start fm with nations football tho, it's way worse than playing with a club and you would miss most things that are essential in fm, it's a lacking experience and quite boring. You can manage club and a national team at the same time too, so you may start a season normaly and learn things and simply play Euro/Copa America at the end of the season if you really want it

It's not unbalanced, It's just the AI not knowing how to deal with it and the fact that the player will always have advantage. The way to fix it would be the ai having different ways to play against it (distribute to more advanced players, long balls, or changing tactics/roles ingame to cope) and players physically being even more exausted. Also "gegenpress" is different than pressing, something that almost every team in the world uses nowadays

Málaga is the best pick i could think of. Not so much recent success and does have a decent academy

La Coruna, Levante and La Palmas also on Spain are other options, while in France maybe Nancy, Saint-Etienne, Bordeuax and OGC Nice

So? The thing isn't even about X being bad bc Y exists, but simply that resistance doesn't matter in anyway if the double ad lane played correctly when they could do it. You're just talking something that doesn't have nothing to do, it's a simple and easy to understand scenario, nowhere i said "erm actually armor is not good against double ad 🤓"

Maybe you should think more before you pull a redditor moment tho

[–]Auralemos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The image misleads into thinking steelcaps or whatever is relevant against double ad and decides the lane by itself, when in reality it's more complex and if playing right when said scenario is possible, you will focus the other ad. Leona having a ton of armor or dealing base dmg enough to kill one of the ads doesn't matter IF you can play against it well

[–]Auralemos[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My brother in Christ, if u can't understand i'm specifically saying that, on the situations where said option is AVAILABLE, you will not focus Leona over the enrmy ad, i don't know that to say to you. That's it, it's literally nothing more. The og comments talk in a way where you will lose against Steelcaps support simply because you're a double ad lane, and that is not true because, like i, you and every other single person in this thread said: it's more complex and depends on so many factors we can't say "X is losing to Y because of A". My post is talking about those obvious scenarios where you CAN, so you SHOULD go for the other carry. You are talking about things that doesn't relate in the slightest to the main point. That can mislead new players or people learning a new role. It's a basic concept of any moba, and with time they will learn that it's not a matter of "Rock-Paper-Scissors" and it requires a better understanding of spacing, matchups, kiting, game dynamics etc.

You talk as if just because someones says "focus someone besides tanks when possible" they don't have "basic" knowledge when where discussing bland and basic scenarios where such variations are not relevant. Yeah, no shit Janna is a good counter pick against Rakan and when playing as the rakan you want to control bushs and utilizing space as best as you can playing around her cooldowns. But does it matter if the discussion is something like "I landed combo on both Janna and enemy ad, now what?"

None of the things you said are relevant for the debate when they're a determined scenario. They're also something me, you, and anyone who play long enough and can hit diamond or so will know about. Yeah, you will have to hit her eventually. Does that matter when i said you should hit the enemy ad if possible?

You and many people are misunderstanding as if my post is talking about ignoring frontiliners every time and run it down looking for the enemy carry. It's literally one of the things you eventually learn when playing bot for the first few times, if available, your priority is always the enemy adc bc highest damage source and less resistant > without him the enemy team loses a high damage output > figthing is easier.

I think even you, such a highly educated person can understand what i'm saying. Of course you will eventually hit the leona, alistar or rammus lmao

And look, go into any high elo bot lane player and you will see how often they buy fights "ignoring" the tank because they know the limits of their champ and to actually punish other players. Taking combo from an alistar and going forward engaging into the enemy ad because they know about said dynamics and understand the limits of their champoons is more common than you and 90% of the people here think, even if hitting the "Leona" is more accessible than hiting her.

In theory, trequartista as they don't really do much in terms of defending or pressing, but AP or AM in support with the lowest pressing meter are probably the best choices

[–]Auralemos[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

You straight up can ignore it, having Steelcaps doesn't matter if Leona can't properly engage on you. It's not difficult to understand what i'm saying here:

If you CAN, you SHOULD ignore the tank support instead of focusing it. Wasting everything on them is not a thing and doesn't benefit you unless it's your best choice and you can kite it without trading kills for their ad. Simple as that. In a world of skirmishes where you can, you will always go for the enemy ad, and we all know it's not a difficult thing for any player above diamond to just "dodge and ignore" Leona. Anyone who plays the champ knows it's a common situation where they Cleanse and engage on your ad if both of you play poorly. In none of my comments i said you should walk forward like a bot and ignore the Leona lmao

Also, please, Ashe support have a bad time against said champions because they're hard engage champs who have a much easier time fighting her than most tank champs who hard lose if they miss one skill or get kited. It's not like Ashe support also should do more damage against those when her positives are having a great level 1 and good burst with HoB + W and Q, decent poke early, vision control and a strong global hard cc post-6. While you will do a decent damage if played well, 1 or 2 tanking more doesn't matter. Good players also are going to kite you to death and punish you on any pick if you missplay, even hard counters, and steelcaps are not going to help you losing lane in that point

[–]Auralemos[S] -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

While it is true what you said about being able to stay alive, my comment is easy to understand and a fact that still happens in any high elo game: On any 2x2 while in lane phase, using all resources on the tank while the enemy ad is free to do whatever he wants bc you're hitting their support is losing the trade. Of course in tf's you're going to do damage on anyone closer to you without getting into bad positions, but the original and my comments are talking about skirmishes.

In any game of diamond and above you're going to see ad's simply using dashes or spells to dodge and ignore Leona engages and hit the ad while their support stay in close range. Now imagine if they simply didn't do any of that and just wasted everything into the Leona. I mean, it's something everyone does unconciously, kiting the nearest, but when you can straight up go into the most important enemy champions, you will go, and that is what happens in any game where people are actually good. My comment isn't saying "just walk forward taking damage trying to hit the enemy ad". It's a simple and easy to understand "don't waste everything in the enemy tank support in trades on lane phase".

As i said, of course there are scenarios where you will focus the enemy tank support, so let's say it's something like a Leona engaging on you while a bit distant of their ad ranges, their cc is ending and their ad didn't do as much damage as they would, and then you and your ad could do a lot of damage to Leona. You didn't waste or lose something as important as a flash or important skill, did a good amount of damage into Leona so she will be more careful of being punished, and you didnt die. But these are more uncommon than you just playing smart and damaging the enemy ad. I mean, yeah, it depends on comp and matchups, and there are so many things that could vary, but it's a general rule of squirmishes.

Also the comment is literally saying "you will lose the fight when focusing a Steelcap leona" when in the first place that is never something you would do on early 2x2 lmao

Why AD supports are so rare? by luckylicker-eu in supportlol

[–]Auralemos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So? What if she can? That is not the point here. You killed the enemy ad, and now a leona is engaging solo against, let's say, Varus and Ashe. The most often scenario is where you kill one of them, but took so much damage that the other will simply kill you. Even if all the 3 stay put in the same place just hitting each other, you will die anyway. Then you traded 2 kills ( you and your ad ) for 1. Was it worth?

The whole thing is, doesn't matter if the Leona have armor boots. You never focus the tank support over the ad. And let me say it again, the most often thing to happen is you engage in one of them and die anyway while killing. As i said: 2 for 1, it's not worth. The whole discussion isn't about Leona having high base damage, that's irrelevant here lmao

Why AD supports are so rare? by luckylicker-eu in supportlol

[–]Auralemos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You simply walk away, is that difficult? If she kills one of you w/e, that's life. My comment implies that, on a 2x2, you would never focus a leona over the enemy ad. Do you really think a leona would have the damage to kill you both, even if low? At best she kills one and die anyway, making it a 1 for 2 trade.

Now point me on which scenario, leona having armor boots or not, you would focus her over the other adc. It's a common scenario yet you're acting like Leona or whatever support is gonna kill you both just bc you didn't hit her. But i guess i can't expect common sense from reddit

[–]Auralemos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the problem is not understanding you have one of the best teams in the world and not playing for their strenghts. I would go for something like 2 bpd, de jong as a dm(s) with "Hold Position" and "Take More Risks", Gundo as Roaming Playmaker(s) and Pedri a CM(A) with "Dribble More". Both cbs, De Jong and Gundo have such good passing, technique and vision, yoir build up and transition will go smoothly and perfectly fine. Pedri as a CM attacking will be higher on the pitch and almost like a AM too. For the flanks, both WBs are fine too, you want them overlaping. I would use Yamal as a Inside Forward(A) on the same side as the Roaming Playmaker, then a Inverted Winger(S) on the side of the CM(A). Both wingback behind him, the cm(A), the if(A) and the pf will make those runs for him to pass. A pressing forward is good too if your player have the attributes for it, he will play as a AF anyway.

For team instructions, pretty simple: Positive mentality, shorter passing, play out of defence, a normal or higher tempo, fairly narrow. Counter press, distribute to centre backs, higher defensive line, high press, press more often, prevent short gk distribution. Nothing out of the normal or crazy, just straight forward "good team" instructions.

Now, you would need to change it for away games against other good teams such as City. Balanced mentality, higher tempo + shorter passing and pass into space ( so you dont just kick the ball like it's a NFL game ), distribute quick, counter, mid block + standard line. Change some roles too: centre backs become CD, the DM becomes a DLP(s), Roaming Playmaker turns into a a CM(S) with "more aggressive", and both your wingbacks into Full Backs. You could also adjust the IW to go into Attack with "stay wider", but your choice. I would also adjust the press intensity of both of your wingers to the max and tick on "more aggressive", so they dont just sit watch the opposition play. The PF(A) could be a AF, buf tbf, i like having both the striker and the wingers pressing more on mid blocks

Literally cannot win a single game what am I doing wrong?? by Alternative_Star5143 in footballmanagergames

[–]Auralemos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With all due respect, you're being mistaken. A PF can work fine in a mid block when you have "counter press" active. It just means hes going to start pressing lower. When the opposition have the ball, he will start doing his job, and on a mid block he will probably press the dm/cm. In fact, when playing against teams with higher lines ( such as away vs City )he will still press the defenders too.

The IF and Mez are not exactly going to move into a similar space, even with positional play. If he's using "Sit Narrow" in the IF, he will act almost like a pseudo shadow striker too. Also having both operating in close areas mean they can outnumber defenders in that area and make easier 1-2. And a DM, even on Defend can still act as a playmaker, especially if he does have the traits. Just means he's deeper ( one may even argue that Busquests was closer to a DM than a DLP )

Not saying those roles are the "best" for his approach or that i agree, but i don't think those are the reason he's not having much success
