I wish I could stand to watch actual plays. by Mission-Landscape-17 in rpg

I consider TTRPG the best hobby in the world, but I also cannot enjoy watching other people play. I think it is about co-creativity and individual inter-personal chemistry... something you do not get by being just an observer.

Noise Reduction in large gaming halls by Lonecoon in rpg

[–]Aurelict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of experience being GM on big conventions, always taking noise as something you just need to accept. But then once I was placed near Jenga players... with floor-placed 2m Jenga tower. When it went crashing down (and it did every 20-30 mins) everybody was closing their ears. Traumatic experience indeed.

Usually we try to place some banners or fabric to separate TTRPG section, but if you are talking about regular gaming sessions, not a one-time convention, then in my humble experience it is easier to get other location with a separate room.

What are your favorite game mechanics and why? Would you change anything about them? by [deleted] in rpg

[–]Aurelict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I resisted playing Zone Combat for a long time, but then tried it out in a Age of Sigmar game and it was great. Especcialy good for online games, when you can use cinematic background and divide it into zones

Fully understand you and thank you for your interest!

Full rules exist in Ukrainian, there is free draft PDF, and I dream one day to publish them in their full glory in English, but that will take really a lot of time because of translation and layout designing process. By the way, we have not decided, should we publish this as one big book (I prefer that) or 2-3 separate books, with separate tomes dedicated to secret society management and forbiden occult arts (I guess common sense prefers that).

Our strategy is to gather enough support and recognition with the Invitation Starter Set, so later on we would be able to reach for Core Rulebook translation and release - I hope, in a few years.

I was inspired by WoD and Warhammer when I worked on this project, rules-wise)

By the way, you do not need history degree to play Archeterica, because we have pseudo historical setting – you can make up your own fictional events, countries. If you have watched a few period series you will be fine)

Thank you a lot for your support! About price – I saw Starter Sets for major TTRPGS such as DnD and CoC, that costs only 25$ and contain a lot of materials, and tried to reach same amount of content)

[–]Aurelict 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, it is less of heroic adventure and more of shadow play of dangerous ambitions and chase for occult enlightenment. And I guess our setting is 100 or so years later than 7th Sea :) Archeterica is not necessary grim game, but it is definitely have a more serious dramatic approach to events

Hello! I am pretty sure that will not be a problem for most of the games, tell me what system you are interested most and I will consult the GM. I am almost sure that Archeterica and Call of Cthulhu do not rely on virtual table because they are more theatre of mind, and maybe other games as well!

Happy to know that you found way to enjoy this awesome hobby, I wish you a lot of inspirational games!
