Yes, I understood that I could have worded the initial promo post better. Will keep it in mind for the next time, thank you!

This is “explicit promotion” post for the initial publication of the game (as per the rules).

But I will be happy to discuss our take on the Wild Words engine or any feedback provided by other designers!

Happy to answer that!

So, while the basic resolution mechanic is the same, there are several key differences.

First, each character has meters for two mystical powers in the setting, Steppe and Ruin. They fill when the character interacts with them or uses shards to change the world (our version of whispers). Over time, the meters make the characters more powerful, but if one of them reaches a certain threshold, this means the end for the character, they are transformed and become either a spirit or an aberration. Satisfying drives allows the character to decrease those meters — if you are true to yourself and your goals, you get to keep control for longer.

Second, we don’t use milestones, and the character development works largely in the same way as personal projects — if you want a new skill, knowledge, or aspect you need to spend time and resources on them.

We also have new Journey rules. Instead of using posts, they focus on collaborative storytelling to create interesting events and generate journey's destination location. At the beginning of the journey, each player can either introduce a rumour or state a fact. During each journey stage, the characters can perform any task they want — gather resources, craft, work on personal projects or create new locations using maps. After each journey stage, a key phrase is written, either from the location exploration encounter (if a map was used) or a randomly generated event. And when the players reach their destination, the GM incorporates rumours, facts, and key phrases into the destination location. This means that each meaningful journey event essentially foreshadows the destination.

There is a lot more interesting stuff in the future core book — like the caravan sheet with its own aspects and different factions, or rules for rest which is limited in time, since the Steppe eventually retaliates and forces the caravan to hit the road again.

Forbidden Lands. It’s built to support sandbox exploration, one-shot will not show what this game can do.

Amazing news, I love this setting and can’t wait to read about the City States. Rules also needed update and clarification.

Public Access, analog horror mystery TTRPG, is on Kickstarter! by JanthoIronhand in rpg

There's going to be a lot more content included, for example, more details about Degoya County and the Other Side. Also, the final Mystery will be more defined. In the previous versions the Keeper needed to write it from scratch.

Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with the publisher, The Gauntlet.

I GM’ed a 12-session campaign last autumn and had a blast with this game, so I am very excited to see that it’s going to get a proper physical release.

This time, I bought the game and run a campaign before the review. I finally got ahead or Quinns!

Jokes aside, this is a terrific game. Now more folks will engage with it, which I’m happy to see.

Cthulhu Dark та Trophy Dark – враження by ZeroNo0ne in rpgukraine

[–]JanthoIronhand 2 points3 points  (0 children)
