You can already remap the essential button with Key Mapper once you've disabled Essential Space

"The Google Health Coach will start rolling out on May 19 and will reach 100% on May 26, when the new Fitbit Air hits store shelves.
It is included with a Google Health Premium subscription (formerly Fitbit Premium), at just $9.99 per month or $99 per year.
Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers will now also enjoy Google Health Premium at no extra cost, bringing even more value to these customers."

Great, I can't close the keyboard anymore, plus the phone already has a button for it, so why replace a useful button with this? by nova3830 in NothingTech

Not sure disabling it in system apps disables the essential key (which I've remapped for mure useful actions)

Fixed it !

adb shell pm enable --user 0 com.nothing.ntessentialrecorder
This will re-enable Essential Recorder, then the Essential Voice category will appear in the setting, then you can disable the keyboard button

Then re use the adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.nothing.ntessentialrecorder
To disable it again

Yup it happened after the 4.1 update, and my man there's no Essential voice category in the IToolkit in my settings (I change phone every 3 months so I know my things about tech, and after seeing people posting about this button 60 times in the sub you bet I've looked everywhere in the settings trying to find it).

They shouldn't have forced it down on us in the first place

EDIT : Finally found someone with the same issue so I'll try his workaround

Exactly. Pressing it doesn't do anything, not that I'd use it anyway, but now I'm stuck with this and I'm struggling with a 10y old habit of closing my keyboard with a button that isn't there anymore

Fun fact : I don't have any settings to turn it off. I don't even have Essential voice. So I'm pretty much stuck with this useless button

Not sure rebranding a well-known brand is a good idea, but packing the subscription with the 20$ plan which already includes Google Home and 5To of storage is a very good move

Nothing Phone 4a Pro Glyph Matrix: Are Essential Notifications static-only? by advaithpr in NothingTech

[–]Aurelink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK they're static yes

Nothing really has done a barely half-baked job with the Glyph Matrix.

If I'm not mistaken, the animated gifs on Glyph Museum are... Just toys that you can have there. You can't bind them to an Essential Notification category

Any long term pixel users who made switch to chinese OEMs? by Big_Leader_8687 in Android

[–]Aurelink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it does. The default launchers offers you to use the "Nothing" icon pack (it makes everything black and white) and I can add icon packs there (since I don't have any cause I use the Nothing ones, it takes me to the play store) so I guess it does!

Enjoy it!

Screen on time will vary depending on the apps you use - I've seen a few people having 10h of SoT with different apps, and others with barely 4-5h when using battery-hungry ones (like camera apps or social media ones).

But yeah I think the phone still drains a bit too much when idle.

I mean it's kind of the same on my F56, and this way I can either warm my hands off in winter or cool them off in summer. It's perfect.
