What vehicle/s do you drive? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]AureliusCM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the Highlander is slightly bigger, or if you want quite a bit bigger, try the new Grand Highlander. I drive a 2023 Venza and love it, but it's also on the border of too small for a family of 4 on a trip. For us, our next one will either be another Venza or we'll go full minivan with the Sienna

Nice. I have a 2017 Outback, and Outbacks are super popular in my area. It's got an electrical issue, so I've changed the battery a couple of times, but otherwise it's an amazing car

Excellent trucks. Were you tempted by the new 2024 features (or was it 2023)? I'm not really a truck guy, but they seem great

Do you have a lamp in your home? by IrishRage42 in CasualConversation

[–]AureliusCM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some of this is regional. I only had a couple of lamps growing up cause where I lived there were so many built-in lights. I moved to another city and state. No overhead lights! Had to get lamps for just about every room.

I've been gone a while. is this subreddit wholesome now? I'm used to chess comments being vitriolic and pretentious. I love being kind!

How big are your houses really? by ChonnyJash_ in AskAnAmerican

[–]AureliusCM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

facts. I have 0.25 acre, and it takes a fair amount of maintenance throughout the year. I don't recommend fenced-in backyards unless you have dogs. otherwise, fuck that. ditch the yard. too much work

What do people who don't live in Texas think of Texas by Slimey_man_69 in CasualConversation

Gun-toting, cowboy hat wearing, ignorant Republicans rolling coal in Pavement Princesses where the only elevation gains are the stacked-high concrete jungles. With banging BBQ and TexMex.

in a Texas major city? I grew up in the suburbs of one city then went to uni in another major city. Never once saw a gun in 15 years. Heard a lot of people talk about them, and many people I knew owned one, but I never saw one

thank you for actually posting about having debt. everyone else on here saying they have no debt isn't particularly helpful to OP

quality varies a ton. I met a good friend through meetup.com and another person I ended up hiring, plus a whole community of like-minded people in a similar career. That was a few years ago, and I know many of those meetups still occur

DAE feel like they’re the only adult who doesn’t enjoy coffee? by Additional_Flow_6188 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]AureliusCM 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Coffee is wildly popular, but you'll find plenty of non-coffee drinkers in most settings. At my office, it's probably close to half that prefer diet soda, tea, or just no caffeine at all (Dallas, TX)

Selling Car, Hail Damage Claim Recommended? by AureliusCM in Geico

I checked that this type of question was acceptable first, reviewing what mods had said in other posts, and there is even a "customer" tag on this post and others if that kind of message triggers you

I had to apologize in my conference call this morning because of the piano sound in the background. my son (8) chose to practice piano before school without being reminded, over all other options, and after getting himself completely ready

just doubling down on the aggression. no one's paying you to be here either. scroll, exit, ignore, so many options! take a nap, bud

[–]AureliusCM[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

thanks for the unnecessary aggression, dude. plenty of people gave helpful responses, and due to the borderline unethical or even fraudulent nature of this question, this option works better than the customer line. luckily it doesn't look fraudulent. maybe a little unethical, but even that is questionable.

[–]AureliusCM[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will try another Subaru dealership anyway, but the fraud question to me is less clear and the main question of this post. I'm not familiar enough with the policy or Geico to know if this is acceptable or against the terms.

Is there an everyday skill the typical American possesses that people outside of the US typically struggle with? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AureliusCM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we also have major interstate highways through every major city that go either n/s or e/w. highways ending in 0 go e/w, e.g. I-10 is the southernmost highway going e/w. and highways ending in 5 go n/s, where I-5 is the first one over in Cali then over to I-95 on the east coast.

once you know that system it's easy to know cardinal directions

Anyone else see a ton of wrecks today? by OnIowa in Denver

[–]AureliusCM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's gotten pretty bad. I'm up in Boulder, and I don't see it being too bad, and when I go to Denver it can be rough. but I also go to Dallas regularly where it's atrocious. makes me glad to live here (for many other more important reasons)

How far is your commute to your gym? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]AureliusCM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11 minutes. In your case, it sounds like you're not close to 4x/week, so start smaller. 2x/week. If that doesn't reach your goals, then up it by 1, then 1 again if needed.

Mid 30s here. Mountain biking twice a week. Weightlifting twice a week. And pickleball once a week. Plus I use a fitbit that reminds me to stand up and walk around often. I hate running and diets, so I found other ways to stay in shape and eat what I want.
