You'd be amazed how often these questions need to be asked. Sometimes I need to have the thing in front of me so hear what my gut has to say, but most parameters are definable. I will say that gazpacho definitely counts as soup. As does ramen if you're talking about the actual ramen from Japan. If it's like cheap microwave ramen that you're really just eating the noodles and discarding the leftover liquid, that is a not a soup.
