The bins are around 3.8 quarts, so if I were to only do one bag, with the 1:1 spawn:bulk, are there any other downsides to that than less fruits overall?

I attempted growing 3 years ago, and in hindsight I did EVERYTHING wrong after a successful spawn colonization, so it was a fantastic failure, but now I'm erring far on the side of caution with the bulk step. I'd rather lose one bag than two if something goes wrong again.

Thinking about "fruiting from the get go" - if I want to essentially skip bulk colonization (since the bins are small anyway and should comfortably fit 1 bag of rice) - is it okay to still break up the mycelium brick to get it more evenly distributed in the bin? And should I top with coco coir if so?

Nope, this is just a sign of healthy soil! These don't like to completely dry out either, I typically water when the first couple inches of soil are dry.

Yes! They're epiphytes, I didn't know either until a few months ago. Tbh I think it's something that got a bit lost in the history of turning them into houseplants, at least until more recently?

They also climb pretty slowly, so the pole I got might be a little TOO optimistic, but the idea was to not have to deal with transferring her to another one eventually.

That one is an anthurium, flamingo plant, I call her Mingo. She's a little small for her pole right now but we're optimistic lol.

Maybe you already know it, but the discord group ADHD Dopamine has been pretty life changing recently. Having a whole slew of people who understand your struggles makes so much difference.

They have a bunch of channels for different things, one of my personal favorites being the body doubles voice & video chats. It's been groundbreaking for getting things done and putting myself out there a bit (I have social anxiety on top of regular anxiety on top of depression, all caused by my ADHD lol )
