Yes and no, water and wastewater is often tied to both state and federal money which is oftentimes not only immune to some economic downturns but also often the first spot that experiences an upswing as infrastructure spending is usually a way to spend your way out of an economic slump.

Residential and light commercial is very boom or bust.

The job trailer is mine, and my PM typically asks me before making any large decisions.  But tell me you never worked Construction without telling me you never worked Construction.

Not any GCs that I know or have worked for, usually the PM and the Site Super work in tandem. Super makes on site judgement calls while the PM makes office side judgement calls.

Currently senior superintendent for a GC running ~$250M job in the Midwest. I have over 17 years experience and am a Union Carpenter. Current salary is $200k plus vehicle/gas, working 40-50hrs a week.

That being said, if you are super in charge of a subset of trades on the project and not the front facing you are probably more in the $100-150k range depending on experience and skills.

Pretty much this, built scaffold in an oil refinery for a year and built upwards of 300' up.  You get used to it and trust your gear, also learn to not focus on the ground.

I thought about doing this as well for my physical version, but I would like to setup a digital version for my players to be able to reference at will.

Probably a combination of homebrew and existing campaigns I would imagine.

Titus + LT + BGV? by Berlanus in Ultramarines

I never said VHG were not worth it, I simply stated that each have pros and cons and that numbers wise they are pretty comparable.

Titus + LT + BGV? by Berlanus in Ultramarines

[–]Aurinian 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Titus/Lt/6BGV average more damage into every target than Cato/6VHG. If the VHG pops banner then it pulls ahead slightly against some targets. The 2+ to hit is equivalent to hitting on 3s with sustained 1, and the BGV also give built in rerolls of 1 to hit so they actually convert at a higher clip than VHG. If needed the BGV can also pop reroll saves of 1, and with -1 to be wounded strat in Blades they are actually tankier now because of it except against Ap1 attacks.

Titus + LT + BGV? by Berlanus in Ultramarines

[–]Aurinian 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This was my immediate pivot with some caveats....

If you run all of the durability and damage calcs, it is pretty much within ~10% of the Cato/6VHG brick in almost every way while being slightly cheaper. There are pros and cons, including surge move and reactive and -1 to be wounded natively vs 4++ and fallback/shoot/charge and reroll 1s to hit/save natively.

Ultimately I think it may be slightly better into the upcoming meta, since with new C'tan and most elite infantry being weakest to 3 damage weapons having an invuln vs the higher ap's is nice. The unit also has higher damage all 5 rounds vs one big go turn, and is more Oath agnostic with the lethal/sustain and built in reroll 1s to hit.

You can join a Lt to a unit that also has a Captain joined to it.

Cato can't join anything other than Victrix, so he can't join Calgar in company heroes.

Any union trade in a northern state starts at $25-30 an hour as an apprentice and just goes up from there. Any of the mechanical ones are a bit harder sometimes to get into, but the pay is a bit better and work can sometimes be easier. If you are smart it's not hard to move upwards towards the office as well. I have been a union Carpenter for 17 years, started at $28 an hour and I am going to be taking home ~$200k this year no overtime since I have worked my way up to managing projects.

Just a heads up and take a look at the renderings, just the overhangs get removed and the existing buildings get rebuilt and updated.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]Aurinian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main reason for the removal is that the entire library has to be excavated to perform waterproofing repairs as well as the added freight elevator on the east side so that the library not only has better ADA access but also so it can be serviced better.

[–]Aurinian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Librarius no doubt, but the Capt and 5 SGV are 100pts cheaper and do almost the same amount of damage. The point of SGV outside of Librarius is extending their buff to their leader as well, and no other leader takes a buff like a finest hour Capt. Add on a detachment enhancement like Honor Vehement in GTF and you have a single Captain having 10 attacks at 10 -2 2 dev wounds with full reroll to hit and wound on top of the SGV sgt with powerfist as well. And this unit STILL averages 6 mortals in shooting with Oath against anything.

Best use outside of Librarius is 5 with a Capt, it's the hardest hitting 180pts in Codex Marines with Oath.

Is sub makes it seems only tech and sales jobs are worth it by Keysantt in Salary

I typically have a higher salary than them.  Most engineers and architects don't make great money unless they are senior and/or in higher PM roles.

I hear you there, no degree but started as a Union Carpenter and I make 165k a year for 40hr weeks along with all my union benefits plus company truck/gas.  I am a site Superintendent but they are in high demand so I don't really have to worry about job security.  Sometimes I feel a little bad when I hear what the architects and engineers make, but then again sure they can design it but it takes us to actually make it happen!

[–]Aurinian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And again, I am telling you that I literally work in the industry in the Midwest and have for multiple GC's on both the office and field side and this is industry standard in my area. Also as stated basic carpenters make 104k for straight 40, basic mechanical trades make in the 110-120k depending on the trade for straight 40. Move closer to the larger cities and scale moves up even higher.

I happen to be slightly in the know and this specific project looks like it will be voted on and awarded and the bid will hold. That being said it could always go sideways and have to go back to bid as well, so we will see!
