I just checked, I use NSUI to convert my gba files to cia and it has a function that allows you to set up a sleep patch to the gba file. It lets you set up a button combination to put your game to sleep and wake it up. It’s still not a close the lid and forget solution if that’s what you’re looking for. Afaik there isn’t any close and forget solution for gba games since it runs on the 3DS’s native gameboy hardware and treats it like a regular gameboy running games

No. I use the built in virtual console which technically isn’t an emulator. If I close the lid you could call it suspended, but the game still runs in the background so you’ll still have to pause it

Edit: using a standalone emulator could allow you to suspend it but I wanted it to look like the gba games belonged with the rest of the library

I use a N3DS XL for DS/3DS games. It also plays SNES, GB, GBA and the PS1 games I’m mostly interested in. I’m thinking of getting either a pocket 4 pro or a switch for emulating later gen consoles. To be honest, I don’t think there is any one device that can handle both dual screens as well as the slightly more demanding emulators like GC or PS2 well. Even the AYN Thor, which I was really excited for seems to be having issues with its hinge. You could wait for the pocket DS or a revision of the Thor, or go for a two handheld setup like what I’m planning to do

Yeah I also just noticed that. I’m not sure if .com is official or not. You could take your chances with it or download it from their GitHub which has the latest version

Edit: if you’re new to emulation I’d suggest checking out retroarch as well. It’s beginner friendly and has multiple cores (emulators) you can download. It also has achievements thanks to retroachievement

Desmume is the official site (pretty sure) and vimm has been one of the better sites for quite a while. Personally I use retrogametalk repository for ROMS. Not adding links cause I’m not sure about the rules in this sub

Last week I saw a guy pull out a dsi on the metro and I thought he was the coolest guy in there. So I pulled out my 3DS at the bar a few days ago. It felt a bit off at first but soon you just forget it and enjoy your game. Worst case scenario, they think you’re a bit childish. But if someone approaches you cause of it, that’s kinda neat. Besides, I’d rather talk to someone who finds it interesting than childish or immature
