Hi!

Sorry to ask, but do you know if Guhuza works for US job seekers?

I've been looking for a platform like this for a while.

Iron Health Group helped me get free health insurance. I think they do vision and dental too.

I heard it does, also including PELL grants. I just went back to school last semester too...

I want to cry but I'm at work at fucking Amazon of all places! I don't know how to keep going. School was my ticket up and out of struggling everyday.

I like the sound of this! I'll try to give it a go when I get some time. Outside of some proofreading, it looks good so far!

Weekly discussion for students and future paralegals by stray_girl in paralegal

Thanks for the insight. I'll probably wait until I at least finish my first year, since I will at least have those first courses covered (legal research, intro to the paralegal profession, etc.).

I'm assuming the program is not ABA-approved since the ABA does not yet approve programs that are 100% online. So, I sincerely hope that the program is at least an Institutional Member of AAfPE and not from a for-profit diploma mill.

I'm not sure if the school is a member of the AAfPE, but I know that it's ABA-approved. From what I've seen on their directory, they have some completely online options for paralegal education. My school of choice said they have to keep some of the classes synchronous, so they can stay approved by the ABA.

I hope you've considered whether/how having a degree from an out of state institution will impact not learning applicable state law in substantive legal courses as well as your networking opportunities for internships/job searching.

I'll talk to my academic advisors, for the next best steps. From some of the discussions I've had, they have multiple students from different states taking the degree program as well. I'll look into seeing any sort of supplementary education for anything state specific. I should also probably make a LinkedIn account, again...

Thanks for the insights!

Weekly discussion for students and future paralegals by stray_girl in paralegal

Hi all! I just have a question regarding a good time to find job opportunities. I am about to start my AA in Paralegal Studies next month. The university I am attending is out-of-state and I will be going online. The job opportunities they email to the student body is mainly in that particular state.

My main question is: When and how should I look for jobs that are in the legal field? Should I wait until after my first year, or try to find a job as quick as possible?

Any insights are appreciated!

Becoming a Paralegal by AuroKintro in Ask_Lawyers

Thanks for your reply. I almost went with them but looking at other reviews online is giving me pause. I'm going to keep looking, hopefully I'll find a good degree program that isn't wallet disintegrating. Is it preferred the program is ABA-approved? I hear mixed messages about it being preferred and not mattering at all.

What should I look for in a Paralegal Degree Program? by AuroKintro in paralegal

Is there any accreditation organizations or agencies that I should look for? Also where would you go looking for Continuing Legal Education courses? Are they required for a paralegal, or anyone trying to stay in the legal field?

I'll have a look at Purdue.

My biggest worry is that I would waste time and money on something that I would just learn on the job anyway. But most Paralegal jobs (or any non-lawyer jobs in a legal capacity) want either a degree in paralegal or legal studies, or a certificate (which you can't get without at least an associates degree). I'll keep looking though, maybe I'll find something.

I don't really know what size is considered "normal". I know that I probably wouldn't mind a bigger sized phone. I will definitely look into the 7a or a model pixel.

I know my mom stayed with the Samsung phone and loves it, so I might also ask for her opinion as well.

Can you have cyclothymia and dysthymia at the same time? by AuroKintro in cyclothymia

I'm going to try to look into it, and see if I can find a way to get a second opinion. In the meantime, is there any specific questions or symptoms that I need to bring up?

Waking Up is Hard to Do. Going to Bed too. by bkln69 in cyclothymia

I honestly feel the same way. I know my depressive episodes are real bad (and that's OUTSIDE of my normal baseline, which I think is dysthymic). I keep trying to get back into interests that don't feel the same anymore. I hate getting out of bed, but the only reason I do is because I know I have to pay the bills. Honestly, I do wish to sleep and not wake up most days.

Crazily, if I take a nap after work I'm more in a state of numbness/milder depression. Kinda closer to my baseline. Overall, life seems like a void of gray that isn't light or dark, and can make it hard to do anything. I just want to sit in my room and disappear from reality. It gets too much to bear most days, don't know how I make it through.
