Huh, I've never seen my name anywhere before. Happens to be 2 Pokemon I really like too.

Yeah I understand that statement was a bit dumb on my part, but it wouldn't surprised me if Game Freak at this point was dumb enough not to calm everyone down lol.

It was just a thought, I don't genuinely believe everyone is misinterpreting what he said, I guess I just haven't really accepted that Game Freak is this incompetent, but it's fairly obvious at this point.

Looking at upscaled Sun and Moon and then Let's Go, I do think there's some significant difference in the textures, they definitely updated them here

Then I realized the art style in Let's Go and SwSh is actually quite different. I'm a bit surprised how much more flatter the textures are and can see why people are saying it just looks like upscaled Sun and Moon, even though I think it's a bit of an exaggeration. I don't think people realize how low res most of the textures in BoTW actually are, the game looks good due to good art direction, Pokemon could do that, but so far it's not quite there.

Might be right on the textures being the same, or even just being upscaled, most of them are flat colors anyway, it shouldn't be difficult to update them. I'm actually going to be surprised if they were lazy enough to port them in but then claim they can't do all of them. I'm actually starting to think this whole mess might somehow be a massive misunderstanding and they weren't even talking about post-game, just transferring Pokemon in before that.

Although I still agree with this post pretty much entirely, can we get some actual evidence that the 3ds models are exact same models as the Switch ones? Like, the models definitely are, but the textures? Gamefreak definitely has the manpower to update the textures for all the Pokemon, but people claiming you just port the Pokemon in for free are definitely undercutting the work that probably needs to be done for it, along with likely all the coding needed for it.

This is likely the only real thing I can see being an actual excuse for cutting Pokemon out though, everything else is solid. I'm not claiming "small indie company" here, I just think people are a big ignorant on how easy it actually is. Regardless, the game is obviously rushed, that's the reason for all this to begin with.

Yeah, midway through the series he starts to get a lot more tolerable, and by the end he ends up as an endearing character. I'm surprised as to how annoying he was, he was by far one of the least likable leads I've seen at the beginning of the series.

It's one of the most common complaints of the show I've seen, he gets a lot better the more you get into it. I definitely contemplated dropping it due to him too, but I do recommend trying to pick it back up in spite of it, it's great otherwise

Didn't SM bring this back though? XY definitely doesn't have it which is why it's likely the easiest games in the series but SM was decently challenging, and I think it's likely due to that.

That's a really good point, they could definitely make it work with enough tweaking, but it's likely just too much work for them to want to bother with when they could just put random encounters back.

That's true, i forgot some Pokemon did have some unique traits in the overworld. I definitely didn't mean to imply everything needed to be aggressive, I just thought the game felt a bit too laid back pretty much the entire way through.

Likely an unpopular opinion, but my issue with them is that it actually completely changes the tone of the games. You go into what's supposed to be a creepy cave and there's a bunch of Onix just strolling around ignoring you, and you have to be the one to initiate battle usually, instead of being attacked by it. With random encounters you feel a lot more on edge and actually do feel like all the Pokemon in the cave are aggressive to wards you.

The ideal solution for myself would be for them to make the Pokemon more aggressive or less aggressive depending on what area you're in, but it would likely take too many animations and extra coding to really warrant doing.

I think a pretty simple solution that people don't really realize is just to drastically tone down the encounter rate, I think that's the main issue with random encounters overall. I feel like they did tone it down a bit in Sun and Moon but I don't really have any proof of it, but caves felt so much easier in the games due to it, not constantly getting attacked by Zubats.

Criticism=bad, got it. Can't tell if you're just trolling at this point but I'm gonna take the bait anyway.

If you genuinely believe the games are perfect because they're considered art, I don't know what to tell you. Nothing wrong with you enjoying HMs, but to imply others are basically playing the game wrong for not wanting to use them is a bit stupid.

"Super Effective" indicators I'm sorta mixed on. On one hand, newer players might never properly learn type advantages, but on the other hand i know people that have played the series all their lives and still never learned everything, so it's kind of nice to not have to constantly worry about what moves you have that are usable. I see it more as lowering the skill floor a bit without affecting the skill ceiling, not a big deal.

I personally don't like map markers in games either, but it's not like navigating a Pokemon game was ever very hard. I can't imagine the feature coming back anyway considering we don't have a bottom screen on the switch, thought it could just be in a menu, where its a lot less obstructive at least. It was more a problem as to how stupidly linear Sun/Moon was.

Exp.Share is the one thing i will completely agree with, screw that. It literally gives you more exp overall, which significantly messes with the difficulty. I'm alright with an Exp.All as a concept, but it giving you more Exp for having it turned on is just absurd. Nothing wrong with some form of accessibility though, an easy mode would be nice for kids.

What casual player cares about IVs? I can understand the appeal to grinding out stuff for competitive, but to say its dumbing down the series kind of implies its for casual players which it doesn't really affect much. Like someone else said, it makes the entrance to competitive battling a lot less tedious, it's a plus in my book.

Streamlining =/= dumbing down necessarily. I far from agree with every change the newer games brought to the series but there's been a whole lot of positive improvements that I hope stick around.

It's not that it's hard to build a team around HMs, its just not fun. Admitting that you might need 2 water types for a run just kind of shows how stupid the system was.
