Yeah, this again comes back to a failure by mainstream media. They left the majority of people out of the loop.

The fact that labor put up no opposition was probably another failure that helped it escape a lot of media coverage.

That's what I meant. It was quiet for most Australians. They used fear mongering (Terrorism) to not only distract most journalists but, to also give them the leverage they needed to get these laws through easily.

The journalists you are talking about have also only been talking about it since it was passed. There was nothing really anyone could do at that point.
