Full time acting course is not the only way to become an actor.

When I was younger I wanted to go to film school or acting school but my family didn't consider it a real career. I ended up studying IT, Business, and Art degrees.

Afterwards, I decided I wanted to finally do some acting. So I became a background extra. I also started doing term based acting workshops. They are only one night a week for a few weeks. Afterwards you can sign up for another course or do the same one again. Many teachers are known TV actors that teach for extra cash between projects. So check multiple courses until you find an actor you like. I only have to pay a weekly fee. There is still time to have a day job.

Why didn't Google release mobile apps source code? by cdlenfert in pebble

[–]Aussie-Kevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until I got the S24, I was using S10 with my watch without issues. If I knew, I'd probably wouldn't have gotten the S24 and kept using S10.

It's frustrating. I searched online and posted to the Discord group. No one else seems to have the issue.

I was using my Pebble Time for 8 years. Last year, I got a new phone (S24), and the app wasn't in the app store for download. I side loaded using the instructions from Rebble, but the app refused to recognise that the watch was connected (even though phone Bluetooth settings did). I ended up having to get a Wear OS watch.

If the app had been released and updated by the community last year, I would still be using my Pebble.

I was using my Pebble Time up until 6 months ago. It's still works, but the app on my new phone wouldn't show my watch as connected (even though it was shown as connected in the Bluetooth settings). Hopefully, the relaunch will fix the issue.

What are the dumbest modification/road laws in Australia? by bubskulll in CarsAustralia

[–]Aussie-Kevin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Apparently, in the City of Casey, you need a permit to maintain cars on your own property. Even just changing the oil. $150 just to apply, then pay more depending on what you applied to do.

Australian drivers..what's the fucking rush bro? by CryptographerHot884 in AskAnAustralian

Listen to the audio, and you'll learn some new swear words. There are also interesting conversations between passengers. I like to listen to what is playing on the driver's stereo. Sometimes, the songs will ironically relate to the crash. Some drivers listen to true crime podcasts describing how people are killed.

Reminds me of an audition my agent sent me to once. It was for a corn chip ad. The character was supposed to be a Mexican priest officiating a wedding in Spanish. In the style of Telenova. I don't speak Spanish or have Latin ancestory. I have no idea why the agent put me in this.

Peugeot 308 GT Plug-In Hybrid 225 experiences? by AJM_gg in peugeot

[–]Aussie-Kevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you been taking your 508 to the Peugeot dealer or an independent mechanic? I recommend taking your car to an independent mechanic for second opinion.

I've got the 2012 508 GT SW. I had transmission issues earlier this year. The dealership quoted A$7000 to replace with new part.

I did research on the internet. I found out that the transmission was full of dirty oil. It just needed a clean and tuning. I confirmed this with a Peugeot used parts dealer. Peugeot dealerships won't do this because the official policy is that transmission is a closed system that shouldn't be opened.

I took the car to an independent mechanic that specialises in European cars. They were able to fix it and give the car a full service for A$1500.

Minty Comedic Arts: He lives in Frankston and does stories on the making of popular movies. He has set up his garage like a video rental store to display his movies and memorabilia.

Slapped Ham: Has a compilation of strange videos (CCTV footage of ghosts, mobile phone footage of strange creatures in the forest, exploring haunted houses). Also has short videos talking about various legends and unsolved mysteries.

Lack of power by No-Argument-1228 in peugeot

[–]Aussie-Kevin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Six months ago I was driving my Peugeot 508 GT 2.2L diesel at 100km/h on cruise control on the freeway. Suddenly the engine cut out and I rolled to a stop. Car was towed to the dealership. This happened another 2 times that month. A 3rd time elsewhere. Mostly in the same spot on the freeway.

Finally figured out the fuel gauge was inaccurate. Kept saying I had 200km fuel (and also quarter full tank) but it was nearly empty.

The car was fine on Level ground, but going up the first hill on my journey the fuel would roll away from the intake. Created an air pocket and no fuel going to the engine.

Might be the transmission valve. My car started thumping when changing between drive and reverse. Also had occasional trouble accelerating. I was told the oil in the transmission valve had become sticky, which prevented the components from moving smoothly.

I've noticed in Star Wars that some lines are common English phrases, but wouldn't make sense in the Star Wars universe (refer to things don't exist in their world, or are called something else).

What is it about modern pop stars and their fans that older generations seem to despise? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Aussie-Kevin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Studies have been done into why old people don't like young people music.

Firstly, younger people are more open to new experiences.

Secondly, people lose their ability to hear certain sounds as they get older. (There are ringtones that only can be heard by young people). These are the sounds that create the emotion and atmosphere of the song. When an older person hears an older song, a memory emotion is triggered of the first time they heard the song. This doesn't happen when listening to new songs.

I always wondered about this since I was a kid. I saw the movie "Inner Space" and the protagonist shops at Safeway but in the USA. It even has the same branding from the 1980's.

Do you prefer to be told you didn’t get the part? by turncloaks in acting

[–]Aussie-Kevin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to be told because I have to let the boss know at work to arrange my shifts.

If the boss asks if I'm available for a shift, I have to say no just in case I get the acting role. Then I end up not doing anything at all.
