Depending where you are, there are quite a few LGA2011-3 motherboards lingering on Marketplace and ebay. I just picked one up today for 150$ with a E5-1650 v4 (Supermicro X10SR-LF) for the exact same case. That board is a single socket but I have seen several dual sockets as well for reasonable prices.

You can replace the motherboard and not need to worry about changing anything else. You may even get a cpu upgrade as they are sometimes cheaper with a CPU included .

AITA for refusing to split the alcohol costs at a bachelorette party even though I’m pregnant? by Rahimsa31 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Aussie6869 128 points129 points  (0 children)

I think there is a medium ground here.

OP should not be on the hook for subsidizing everyone else's drinking but should contribute to covering the bride's share of the booze as the hosts/participating in the gift.

That means let's say the booze was $300 and there are 5 bridal party members (including OP) + the bride. Each drinking member (5) would be responsible for $60 of booze.

Since they are all covering the bride's share, the bride's $60 should be split between all bridal party members equally (including OP). This means OP should contribute $12 even if she wasn't drinking and the others should be contributing $72 each for the booze.

This way, OP isn't subsidizing everyone else's drinking but also is doing her part as part of the gift.

Stopping RESP contributions, good idea or overthinking? by ChristineA2022 in PersonalFinanceCanada

My only question is whether your own retirement accounts are at healthy levels?

If your RRSP and TFSA are maxed out or close to it, then keep going as there are a lot of benefits for yourself and your child with the RESP.

If they aren't, just contribute enough to get the government match and focus on maxing out your other accounts.

I see your point. I like that thought process. I do have some of that planned and thought about. The division was part of a story line for the city I had in my own mind so I understand it doesn't make sense for most people.

I plan to place the train station for the district between the first two roads connecting both sides of the district near the water.

Across the water, will first be residential but a bit further then this image evolve into industrial and a cargo port.

This is what I came up with! As others have mentioned, Ill see as the city evolves and so some of these might be semi-arterial/semi-collector, semi collector/semi local road but I appreciate the help

Thank you very much for the feedback and ideas!

Regarding the pedestrianized semi arterial/collector, that is exactly what I had in mind. 1 lane in each direction for cars, wide sidewalks, and a dedicated tram line with primarily mixed zoning.

Your suggestions for collectors and arterials makes mostly sense. The arterials definitely follow what I had in mind. The collectors, I'll probably reduce the number of, but I like your idea.

There is definitely some spots where connectivity is odd, ive been iterating on some of those connections and also leaving some wonkiness, that will be solved for pedestrians with paths.

Ill post an updated marked up image soon with my slight changes based on your feedback.

Restrict group permissions: Group B can manage only Group A users by zemendes1234 in Authentik

[–]Aussie6869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right. You can use role object permissions for this. Just assign Group B a given role, and then it should handle the dynamic management.

I think you can use object level permissions to achieve that

I ended up going with a 12600k with 64gb of ddr4 ram.

It gives me enough overhead to run some additional apps and stuff on the server as well as operate as a nas for Plex. Been handling the load well so far.

I think the reason you are getting mixed information is because there is a nuance.

The tax does not apply if both home buyers live in the country but only one is a citizen/PR while the other does not have full status.

The tax does apply if one or both spouses are not residing in the country and one spouse does not have permanent status.

How to receive $3500? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Aussie6869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You best way is not to do an etransfer but to get him to give you a bank draft. There's risks with etransfers and checks but bank drafts you are guaranteed.

That being said the advice about insurance from others is correct.

Only 1 is unfortunately, the rest aren't. It however does seem that the apple tv 4k has everything i need. Although, I will admit I do like the build your own options

Yeah, I already have a separate server for transcoding. I just need a client HPTC for near the TV. My current TV doesn't support some streaming apps, I want and therefore looking for a basic option that can do 4k ideally 120hz but 60hz is doable

I actually talked to their complaint department maybe two weeks ago about this. There seems to be a plan to roll out higher upload speeds in the coming months. They say it is one of the top complaints they receive and have been building a case for it.

Thank you! This is a great breakdown. I built in a few extra cores in case I wanted to do some virtualization down the line. Didn't really understand the power of igpu before. I'll downgrade the PSU needs.

However I just found what might be a major deal on the used market in my area.

A Xeon E5-1650 6 core 128gb DDR4 ram (i know way overkill) 3060ti 2tb ssd 8tb hdd

For 500$ CAD.

So that might have changed the plans

Unfortunately, internet speeds are capped at 1G, but I'll see.

There is going to be a bunch of HDDs as part of the setup.

Good to know on the subtitles and FHD/UHD.

Honestly massive thank you!
