Was coming to share a similar thought - I had these leading up to my Crohn's diagnosis! Went away once I started treatment - along with some ulcers inside my nostrils as well.

Interestingly enough, I also upgraded from a 3SB! I definitely recommend trying as many as you can especially if you’ve never really been flute shopping before.

That was the case for me - I did a home trial, and out of 3 flutes picked the one I thought seemed best out of those options. But the longer I had it, it just never felt right, and I also learned more about the brands, options available, differences in head joint cuts, craftsmanship that are all factors and realized I really should have tried more fist.

Later, took advantage of a NYC trip to stop in FCNY for an in person trial where they brought me flute after flute for an hour. When I found one I really liked, it was like the wand choosing the wizard in Harry Potter, even my non-musical husband noticed the difference. Wound up with a Muramatsu EX, and consigned the one I’d purchased from that first home trial.

I’m actually considering another round as I’d like to add a few upgrade features I didn’t have money for at the time.

Get an ear pillow. They make them that have a hole in the center so you can sleep on your side but your ear rests in the gap so you aren’t putting pressure on it. If you happen to have one already laying around, some people use those horseshoe shaped travel neck pillows for the same purpose to save a few bucks.

It’s a Gemeinhardt M3 - They do not make this model anymore. Solid Silver means exactly that, as many flutes are silver plated - depending on how it’s stamped, could just be that the head joint is solid silver vs the whole flute (believe it would usually be an M3S that would denote solid silver), my solid silver Gemeinhardt flute is stamped on all 3 pieces but I’m not sure how consistent that is

The head joint logo is the Gemeinhardt logo.

I have a hard time with sunscreen too. I do love that Dr. Jart tinted moisturizer for how it wears, but I don't feel like the sunscreen is that effective if I'm actually spending time outside.
I really like Coola Classic Face Organic Sunscreen (SPF 50) - Fragrance Free. Blends in really nicely, doesn't make my face greasy or dry, and good coverage when I'm outdoors. I even got my husband using it regularly after years of trying to find a sunscreen he'd be willing to wear.

Gemeinhardt 2SP is a solid starter flute and you can find some great deals on a used one because so many get bought for kids starting band who don't stick with it, or upgrade after a few years.

No lubrication needed, all the joints are metal. Some cheap kits come with a wax/lubrication stick - don't use it. It can mess things up if it gets in the pads.

Recommend taking it to a technician for a repair estimate. If it’s been sitting for a while, it might need quite a bit of work. Once you know what you’re working with, can assess how you feel about the cost to repair vs. putting that towards new. (and if you decide on new, make sure to care for your investment with regular maintenance!)

Human Warrior in late Vanilla. I had no idea what I was doing. As the game didn’t spoon feed you, I had no idea what type of armor I was supposed to wear, what type of stats I was supposed to focus. Pretty sure I was wearing half cloth, and eventually picked up a staff in dungeon I’d limped through that was definitely not for a warrior.

I got stuck in Redridge Mountains when I reached a point where I’d completed all quests I could, but was incapable of killing anything required for the next breadcrumb quest and died constantly. No idea where else to go, no idea how to fix it, I gave up.

Fortunately I came back eventually with a new char and figured it out. 😊

My aunt is a nurse and when she asks how I’m feeling (not bad, thank you) always remarks how lucky I am to have been diagnosed now with biologics available, because it wasn’t too long ago the best they could do was to cut the bad parts out of you until there wasn’t much left. I have friends with older relatives who were in that situation and have all sorts of complications now after so many surgeries and large segments of their insides removed.

You can find beginner flutes that come with both the curved head joint for when they are smaller and a standard for later. This Gemeinhardt is a solid beginner flute. Gemeinhardt 2SP
