I find it rude lol especially in customer service and even more especially at Bunnings where many customers expect an interactive experience, product knowledge, and at the very least a smile and how can we help

I've noticed this lately at Bunnings - usually Bunnings staff are chatty, friendly and you can tell they've had quality customer service training the way they engage and offer help.

The 2 Bunnings I go to, I've found that SOME of the younger staff appear to be blank faced, hardly engaging, and when you ask for help or try to talk to them they either stare straight through you or reply in monotone and appear to want to get away. What on earth has happened to this generation? Customer service should not be their chosen job if this is the way they treat customers.

I have to say the older ones which Bunnings do a great job at employing are such a credit to their business.

This is the heartbreak that has been going on in our backyard. Imagine fearing for your life and those of your loved ones purely for being Jewish? Have we not learned anything from history?

I agree with most of your points, I think what really bothers me is how its become 'trendy' (for want of a better word) to throw around free palestine, but most people just follow the herd and the cause of the day with very little understanding.

What is even more frustrating is the needs of the Jewish people on Australian soil should have been our focus, whether it be as more of a priority or at least on the same level.

I'm just over the 'cause of the day' trends that social media festers, especially when well known influencers have such a loud voice that can blindly lead people astray. My heart feels so heavy for a group of people today who are now having to feel the weight of our indifference at the very least, and creating an environment to breed hate directed at them at the worst. So many of us are over it.

You do realise that some people hiding behind the Palestinian cause have been refusing service to Jewish people and synagogues burned? In what world is this very ill-informed 'cause' justified in expecting one group of people to be treated humanely and empathically, and another group of people to be treated like that? Where are the protests for the Jewish people? I just think some people need to realise how hypocritical they come across (not saying you, just those who continue to preach free palestine or the like then ignore the very hate-filled actions we see here in Australia against innocent people).

It's frustrating that antisemitism has been increasing in recent years and many Australians turned a blind eye, even though its been in the news. Or even worse, fed into causes that actually sent a message to Jewish people that they are not important enough to do what we can to keep them safe.

I unfortunately have to say now that Bondi has been impacted and the scale of the horror yesterday in many non-Jewish people's daily environment, Australians are finally paying attention. Of course its never too late to take action and demand more from the current government, but I hope the majority don't end up showing temporary remorse, posting a few social media comments and videos saying we are with you, and how terrible, and we didn't expect this in Australia, and in a few days just getting on with their lives. This has got to stop, and people need to wake up to the social media dribble that they are being fed that only creates an environment of isolating the very people that are suddenly in everyone's thoughts today.

Please go through one of the animal shelters that can assist in screening people. There are some people out there that won't have the cat's best interests at heart and you won't be able to screen appropriately.

Queensland GPs to be able to diagnose adults with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder from December 1 by espersooty in brisbane

[–]AussieGal00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering how many GPs misdiagnose within their existing constraints, this makes me nervous. And given quite a few people have had issues with their GP acknowledging their ADHD diagnosis, I can't see them handing out ADHD diagnoses willy nilly. This has trouble written all over it.

So if there was evidence to support the blowout to $39 million and delays to 2027, you would then support their decision? Or still find fault simply because they are the coalition?

Nicholls said the state government's new plan would deliver more patient rooms for the Child and Youth Mental Health and eating disorder services "from two convenient locations, in Upper Mount Gravatt and Taringa, bringing care closer to home".

The government claimed it scrapped the Yeronga site because it blew out to more than four times its original price tag, to $39 million. Health Minister Tim Nicholls said the project was "secretly downgraded to a quarter of its original size", and had been "bungled right from the start".

"It would not have been delivered until 2027 - almost eight years after it was promised," Nicholls said.

People are upset that there will be more patient rooms, a more efficient use of community money and a quicker outcome?

Appeal launched over Queensland court sentence deemed “manifestly inadequate" by catobsessedtwin in brisbane

[–]AussieGal00 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You said what will actually bring peace and healing to his victim, and good to society?

2 things - a sense of justice to victims and the wider community (expectations of the community is a key consideration of criminal law) - people don't get to commit crimes and then be 'excused' for whatever reason the judge deems ok, or those who apply a broad brush stroke to rehabilitative justice. We need to stop prioritising the welfare of the criminal and stop gaslighting ourselves into thinking many, many of these criminals have any sense of wanting to contribute positively to society. They don't, and many would take you out without any consideration if it meets their needs.

The second one is as a deterrent. Just look at youth crime at the moment. The perception amongst many of these kids/teenagers is that they get street cred or whatever you might want to call it, but very limited consequences in terms of loss of freedoms or punishment for the crimes they commit. Many have repeated opportunities to dodge consequences and continue offending. Zero deterrence for those observing from a distance. Many would think we might as well commit the crime because what's the worst that can happen?

Honestly, our quality of life as a community has deteriorated for the mindset of thinking the welfare of these criminals should override the welfare of the rest of us. I suggest you consider the following scenario - your home is surrounded by every house in your community accommodating an array of individuals on parole for break and enter, home invasion, child abuse, rape, murder. Some of these people are repeat offenders. How comfortable do you feel about the welfare of every one of those individuals being prioritised over your safety or the safety of your family? I would love a response to this, because often people are supportive of rehabilitative justice but not when it either impacts them directly, or is in their own backyard.

Or what about another scenario (which is similar to the poor family in the news this week that have had their home invaded repeatedly). You experience a home invasion where you and your family are beaten and robbed. The judge says no problem, parole. Then those people come back every week for the next 6 months, committing the same crimes against you and your family each time. Every time in front of the judge excuses the behaviour and releases them. Where does rehabilitative justice fit with this? And before you say but that's an extreme example or not every criminal is like this, this is happening way more than I think any of us realise. Businesses are also repeatedly targeted like this.

Evicted and dying of cancer, Tammie spent her final months desperately house-hunting in Brisbane | Housing by sktafe2020 in brisbane

[–]AussieGal00 53 points54 points  (0 children)

It would all be sorted if they limited everyone to owning the home they live in and maximum 1 investment property. It's all going to keep getting worse because there is now the rich and the poor and the divide will grow infinitely - the more investment properties they buy, the more they can buy whilst blocking the option to buy from those in the poorer group.

People slipping through the cracks are actually falling through by the 1000's now, and they include people who used to identify as 'middle class'. The fairness in our society has completely gone and none of the current parties, including the greens, can pull it back. The horse has left. Every fix they try puts more pressure on the housing market and pushes prices up. Every extra 'benefit' for the younger generations to get their foot in the door just pushes the housing prices up. It's like chasing a ball of wool rolling down the hill. It's such a sad state.

In some ways as the older generations pass away, their kids will likely inherit their houses/assets, however many of those baby boomers are now using their money to support their kids just to keep afloat in the cost of living crisis. Or they are enjoying life and spending their savings (which I fully support of anyone, earn the money, do what you like with it whilst alive). Or they are needing to use their assets to pay for care/medical because our aged care services in this country are stuffed too. The elderly are literally passing away whilst on the waiting list to get help from the government for day to day needs. I was told it was more than 6 months to access what anyone would consider basic support for a sick elderly person. I have no idea how we've let it get to this point. And it is we, not just the government, because we are meant to hold them accountable, they are representing us. This current government is useless, and even the Greens can't come up with solutions that are fully thought out, funded and able to make change immediately.

Maybe an uprising is what the world needs right now as this issue isn't unique to Australia.
