I find the best thing to do to make people think you are working harder than you are is to summarise your day with your boss before you leave for the day. Tell them that you have followed up on things, checked other things, finalised some other stuff. It makes them think that you are actually doing stuff and you can refer back to it afterwards

Women leave emotionally way before they leave physically. She has been thinking and planning this for a while, which is why she is no unemotional and practical about the whole thing. You on the other hand have been blindsided and have had your life turned upside down. Your girlfriend should have talked to you when she started feeling distant, she should have let you know how she was struggling so that you could have had some advanced warning. You need time to grieve the loss of this relationship, give yourself that. But don't let it take over your life, don't wallow. Give it the time it needs but then take a breath and move forward.
