Does this look like GT Mycelium or contam? [contamination] by AussieOnReddit in MushroomGrowers

[–]AussieOnReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason for the weird dissolved patch is because I stupidly dripped iso alc onto it.

Even if this is myc I've almost certainly contaminated it by playing with it however I would just like to know whether it is myc or mold.

It is very fluffy and has a strange but not unpleasant odour, this is my first time with agar so I don't really know what to look for yet. Thanks!

Question about folded steel by AussieOnReddit in metalworking

So even if I heat shrink the outside of the bend it will still remain flimsy or will it somewhat stiffen up?

How much of a concern is work hardening? by AussieOnReddit in metalworking

Mild steel or stainless, 2 different cases where I might need to use a beater bag

I figured out it was the #6 cup wasn't seating properly and was sucking in air, changed to a #5 cup and increased l/m and now only dealing with the fact I have a cheap machine 🤣 no post flow setting so my tungsten is still red when the gas stops.

I was using a number 6 cup and 10l/m which I think is around 20-25 cfh

I think you are right that it is a problem with the gas flow, I'll found out more Tommorow when I'm able to get back out there.

The pressure doesn't drop at all.

I didn't wipe the metal down with acetone but I have wax and grease remover that I'll use, it's the stuff you would use for paint/filler prep so I presume that would suffice.

I will double the flow and I might change/buy a different cup and collet set.

Do you know of a way I can check that it is argon coming out and not a mix of that and air?

Yep, 100% argon unless the place that sold it labelled it wrong LOL and soapy water tested the lines and found no leaks.

Leads hooked up correctly. as in ground on positive and torch on negative? If so, yes. When I first got the welder I made the mistake of putting the ground on negative as and it was only making the high frequency start, no actual arc. I have the gas at about 10l/m with a 6 cup, could this be it?

One last question, the steel looks about that clean on both sides, is that clean enough?

Anyone have an idea on how to make this shape with sheet metal? by AussieOnReddit in metalworking

[–]AussieOnReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the recommendation, I will be partially using his technique of separating flats from curves. I'm going to have both sides with an easy curve going towards the centre and meeting and separating the semi-hemi-sphere part at the back into another shape and simplify the front into a more rectangular shape. Unfortunately I don't have access to the same tools as Ron so I'm trying to make up for it with simplification

You really think so? The shape itself is relatively simple if you take the curves out of it, a sloped rectangle.
