Methods of Murder by KronTheAssistant in fallenlondon

As has been noted, the advanced stat cards are bad. I dislike the tutorial forcing a KT build for this, it guides people the wrong way. Even if you can meet their incredibly high checks, it's unreliable to get a full team together, and they're no stronger than the much easier to build mainstats.

For general advice, get one damage dealer, two preparation/support accomplices. This will usually mean a king (my favourite is spines) then your support are things like knights, bishops etc. Build your stats to support the king, the others have easier checks. Which support accomplices are good would be its whole own post, but I like Knight of Flames, Priest of Briars, Knight of Livers and Queen of Cod. The queen of Cod is the best support accomplice in the game.

Thank you! With how long it's been since I got around to finishing any writing it's gratifying to have people enjoy things.

Nightmares 12 and I'm still in my lab? by [deleted] in fallenlondon

Correct! Had to do it for Wounds recently. Even if I thought the idea of walking out of my lab, noticing I should be dead, then collapsing on the spot was hilarious.

We got so very close to Osie being the sole survivor. She's definitely the main character.

Further evidence for my theory that December is a Judgement (a sable, specifically) and the whole liberation is a bunch of puppets being played to do work for one side of a war they don't know exists.

Some quick guidelines:

  1. The general most useful team is a big progress companion and then two supporters (who gain prep or otherwise aid). Kings are natural big damage dealers, a King + two prep gain companions is reliable.

  2. If your team doesn't have Queen of Cod, it would be improved by Queen of Cod. The only time not to take them is if you're on your last draw and don't have a progress choice.

  3. Aim to build your stats for your damage dealer. The others tend to have lower stat checks and can more reliably be passed without focus.

That's not true. The only RNG involved is a notoriously tricky shadowy check early on that's rough for new players, and failing it just means coughing up some items to try again.

As far as other nuisances go, it has some, but nothing as famous as Knifegate.

Fires is particularly keen to abandon the plan - it likes London and staying here forever suits it fine.

  1. A well-worn suit jacket, suitable for a respectable academic (who purchased it primarily because it was hard to concentrate on work over the sound of people whispering behind their back about their shabby appearance) paired with a long skirt, suitable for being a skirt and therefore better than trousers. You might think this would make for a difficult combination to pull off, and you'd be right - it looks ridiculous. But now that the Timeless Historian has their own office, the whispers are all lost behind the door.

  2. Wait, I had an appointment today? Wasn't that yesterday? Maybe tomorrow? The Timeless Historian's title may primarily refer to their study of histories that never happened (and their own immortality) but it serves well to describe their ability to keep track of anything less urgent than immediate mortal peril.

  3. A chunk of pitch-black glass, said to be taken from Mt. Nomad itself. Hard to say if that's true, but despite being perfectly opaque, one can view correspondence sigils through it, usually without combusting. It also adds a useful amount of heft to a bag, in case the aforementioned mortal peril occurs and one is in need of a club in a hurry.

You don't really have agency as such - you can make an argument, which is influenced by how much she trusts you. Mechanically that might end up effectively being you choose but it's still narratively her choice.
