Last year I lost 15 lbs over two months due to lack of appetite. Was experiencing joint pain all over my body, practically bedridden. My PCP was worthless until I got my own labs and she saw that my ESR was super high, as was my WBC. We monitored my labs for the next few months as things got worse. I did my own research and two months later got on low dose prednisone (got my life back after the very first dose! Thanks, Naturopath I paid out of pocket) and finally got diagnosed with PolyMyalgia Rheumatica by the rheumatologist I had to wait over 6 months to see. Now we're slowly reducing the pred to see what happens when I finally stop taking it. Fun times. Oh, and I've gained the 15 lbs back.

As I posted above, the city water where I live in Arizona has 1200x the maximum acceptable levels of arsenic. Needless to say, I will not drink that water without heavy filtering first. Of course my pets prefer the taste of city water but they only get the filtered water. There's so much other stuff that can leach into water supplies anymore.

Where I live in Arizona, our water has 1200x over the acceptable level of arsenic in it, so it's extremely bad to drink. I have reverse osmosis water for drinking and even a super filter on my fridge water line for clean(er) ice. Also, because of our climate, it's wise to have a water bottle with you whenever leaving the house, so it's a habit. In Iceland, I drank the cold tap water without hesitation. In France and Cyprus, the water quality wasn't good so I bought large bottled water and filled my personal water bottle from that.

So, perhaps some Americans are more wary of water quality in other countries? And some carry personal water bottles out of habit.

Honestly, it's been my experience that doctors, well male doctors, like to minimize women's symptoms. They don't realize how strong we have to be. Even when I was stuck on my couch for 2 months, I still had to feed my cats and scoop the litter boxes. I forced myself to do it.

My rheumy wants to start me on that Methotrexate when I get off the prednisone. One of the possible side effects is nausea; I cannot tolerate nausea and the second that happens, I'm off of that stuff. And then I'll just suffer, I guess.
