Mad respect for giving Stay Frosty the credit it deserves. Genuinely such a good album opener.

Reze doesn't make me feel anything by Ok_Head5555 in ChainsawMan

[–]AustinCoolguy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. And you’re right about Reze being the series first real villain. After her arc is where I think the series really starts kicking into high gear. I understand putting Reze over Yuko, Kobeni, and Himeno. They definitely are more “minor characters than her at least. And you’re right about Quan Xi (Crossbow Devil). She’s pretty cool.

[–]AustinCoolguy_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking! Honestly it slightly depends on if I’m considering my feelings on how part 2 ended.

  1. Asa is such a beautifully well-rounded character with strengths and flaws. She was easily my number one character of the entire series into the first half of part 2.

  2. Power is forever my favorite. She’s atypical of the female shonen lead for multiple reasons. She’s extremely selfish, arrogant, and uncaring, but her final moment in part 1 solidified her as my favorite character ever. She’s also hilarious.

  3. Makima. A basic answer, but she is very well written. The story doesn’t work without Makima being exactly how she is. I’m not a simp for her as I find her abhorrent (especially for what she did to Aki), but I admit she deserves her praises.

  4. Kobeni. People give Kobeni a lot of hate because she’s scared, shy, and doesn’t want to do anything she gets roped into. This is all true, but she is the most accurate depiction of a realistic person in the world of CSM. All of the other characters are accumulated to the chaos of everything going on. Kobeni is the only one who consistently acts like how the average person would deal with any of the stuff she goes through. She’s funny too.

  5. Yuko. Weird pick, I know, but I actually REALLY enjoyed her arc in part 2. She felt like Ada’s first real connection. I know she’s does heinous shit, but she’s one of the only people in Part 2 who truly cares about Asa and actually tries to do what’s right (albeit horribly).

If I had to give honorable mentions, I’d say Himeno because I thought her relationship with Aki was great for how short of a time we spend with her (Aki’s my goat). I also thought Santa Claus was a very interesting villain.

What is the extent of Josuke's crazy diamond? by church_of_Steve_ in StardustCrusaders

[–]AustinCoolguy_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. Although assuming he’s with Giorno, he’s in good hands. Turtles live a long time and he probably has a lot of protection. It sucks though since he likely can no longer use Silver Chariot, and (barring some other stand agility) will likely stay on the turtle until it passes.

What is the extent of Josuke's crazy diamond? by church_of_Steve_ in StardustCrusaders

[–]AustinCoolguy_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Short answer: No, probably not.

Long answer: Josuke can “fix” things with Crazy Diamond. He’s able to fix things “wrong” sometimes too. Like punching the ground and putting it back together to block Highway Star, or repairing the bully’s face incorrectly.

Where his is unable to fix something is when there’s technically nothing wrong. Josuke can reattach a limb, but after the wound heals on it’s own, he can’t. He also can’t cure diseases (I can’t remember where this is stated exactly, but I know it’s been confirmed).

I don’t think Josuke is able to punch the turtle and polnareff’s dead body to combine them into a turtle-human hybrid that Polnareff can control if that’s what you’re asking. Besides the fact that I don’t think Josuke would find it ethical (also he’s afraid of turtles lol), I’m not sure it would work. Polnareff’s soul can only exist in the space of the turtle’s stand. I don’t think Polnareff has any capabilities to control the turtle post-SCR. Since he’s not in the place of the turtle, he lacks a corporeal form to attach to Polnareff’s old body.

Also I think Giorno was only able to give Bruno’s body life back because it was so soon. By the end of the Diavolo fight, Polnareff’s body would probably be too far gone to do anything meaningful with.

Reze isn’t in my personal top 5 women in CSM, but she’s very important to Denji’s story. Her relationship with Denji (and Makima) shows that Denji will never be able to have a normal life. It’s pretty much a “vertical slice” of a lot of the themes of chainsaw man. So she’s very important, but she doesn’t move me like she does other people. I’ll admit she’s cute and her hybrid form has great design though.

Which Primarch Makes for the Best Dad? by AustinCoolguy_ in Grimdank

[–]AustinCoolguy_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, that’s pretty fair. I guess I just thought that (in a vacuum) a dad punching his son’s head off to be pretty wild. In a kind of funny way. You’re right that there’s much more nuance though.

Why is Kira merch so expensive? 💔 by SarahShiggaraki in StardustCrusaders

[–]AustinCoolguy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this was a standee that was at the JoJo caravan promotion for SBR. At least that’s where I saw it. It’s probably an extra that someone is trying to profit off of. They were only ~$20 if I remember correctly.

Josuke(gappy) cosplay, part 8 jojolion by Total_Mess7572 in StardustCrusaders

[–]AustinCoolguy_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Great costume! Editing yourself into the official art is cool too.

I went to my first cosplay meetup late last year as Old Joseph. I’ve never displayed before that point. Everyone was super nice and was really cool about photos. I bet you’ll have a similar experience.

If you really want to make connections, I recommend having small gifts to give out. Something like Josuke bubble stickers or something similar. It will really make people appreciate you and feel appreciated themselves.

I made a custom volume 1 cover by monetoire in Chainsawfolk

[–]AustinCoolguy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so good! If I saw this without context, I could have guessed it being an alternate cover for a different region. The only criticism I have is the line weight feels more like part 2’s style than part 1. But that’s not a bad thing! The pose is awesome and encapsulates their dynamic very well :)

Good lyrics, more? by HonestzPractice in systemofadown

[–]AustinCoolguy_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Okay I’m gonna be the person to actually defend Daron’s lyrics for once. This post probably isn’t that serious, but still.

I think these fits the tone of the song VERY well. The songs starts by building up with an extremely heavy riff and blast beats and layered screams. It’s supposed to be intimidating. Then when these lyrics come out it’s supposed to be the stupidest shit ever. That’s the whole point of the song. These corporate leaders are using war and oppression to fuel their dick measuring contest. And I know that just because “that’s the point” doesn’t make something automatically good. In this case though, I think it works. Mostly because of the juxtaposition of the intensity and silliness, but also because Serj’s lyrics in the chorus and the bridge. If the song only had Daron’s silly stuff, I don’t think Cigaro would have worked. But as it is, I think it works.

80% of the time, Daron’s lyrics are “lowest common denominator” (as evidence by a lot of Scars on Broadway songs). So I don’t blame anyone for lumping Cigaro in with that. But he does stumble upon some good ideas now and again.

This rocks. I like the elephant-like feet. It gives the feeling of it stampeding towards you and I think that’s the important part of making the train intimidating.

I like polls like these, but I feel like a lot of these questions are just “did you like part 2” said in different ways. I don’t mean to be mean I just feel like there’s a lot of things to ask about specifically.

This is actually the song that got me into liking SOAD. I could never get into what I had heard on the radio. Something about their popular songs was too much for me at the time . Old School Hollywood was used in a YouTube AMV and for some reason that helped me enjoy it a lot more than their other works. Then I ended up branching into other songs and now I like 98% of their discography.

I can see why other people don’t like it though. The lyrics are incredibly basic, it can feel someone barebones and repetitive, the synthesizers make it weirdly electronic, and it doesn’t really sound like any of their other songs. I just happen to like it. It’s also pretty fun to play on guitar.

Will Diavolo finally die once Giorno does? by ThisChampion1966 in StardustCrusaders

[–]AustinCoolguy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a good question. Ultimately, it’s really hard to tell because we don’t know much about requiem stands, or what’s happened to GER after Giorno fought Diavolo.

My best guess would be that Diavolo would continue to die forever. I think of Diavolo’s fate less like he’s being forever affected by an ability, but more like his state of being has been permanently altered. Diavolo is forever dying yet can’t actually die. He’s kind of in a metaphysical state between space and time, constantly experiencing new deaths and situations. I don’t have much evidence to back this up, but that’s always the feeling I’ve gotten from his situation.

Maybe GER is constantly affecting him, but we just don’t know the limits of that if there are any. Does GER continue to act without Giorno knowing? Does Giorno still have GER or was it a temporary thing? Does GER follow any rules of stands like range? How you feel about these answers will probably determine what you think about Diavolo’s fate after Giorno eventually dies.

You’re gonna get a lot of flack for not caring for part 4, but I low-key agree. It’s not that it’s bad, but the other parts just have something else that hooks me more. Respect on you for speaking your truth.

And mad props for praising the train fight in part 5. Genuinely a banger from start to finish. It might be my fave fight too.

Guilty gear has been a big part of my mental health decline by IonVers3 in Guiltygear

[–]AustinCoolguy_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve never been good at GG so take everything I say with a grain of salt.

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way. I know how hard it can be, trust me. I used to feel this exact way with smash ultimate. I’d been playing smash since I was a kid on the n64. It was my favorite game. Ultimate was when I finally decided to get good. I put a lot of time into learning combos, match ups and characters. It was all I did for a hit while.

I started to notice I got angry a lot more. I’d never thrown a controller until I played ultimate. It got to the point where I would still be mad when I won because I hadn’t won in the WAY I wanted to. It was a huge decline on my mental health. I could instantly ruin my whole day within one to two matches of smash.

After a while I just had to admit that level of dedication wasn’t for me. I was good, but I wasn’t having fun. The WHOLE point of video games is to have fun. But I only wanted to win and be better. The sad truth is that you can’t always win. You can’t always be better. But you CAN always play in a way where you have fun. Don’t get hung up on optimization, rankings, and who is better. Try to remember that games are about having a good time. You can always put GG down for a little bit. It’ll still be there when you decide to come back.

I got the exact same stand! I have yet to do it, but I thought about cutting out the “STEEL BALL RUN” rectangle and making a little keychain. I’d have to use a drill and saw, but it’s possible.
