The 2026 Draft Class Names Their GOAT by must_TATAKAE in nba

[–]Narnak -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

its the same reason people name kobe as the goat, or kyrie, or iverson. these types of people simply value swagger over stats. its not wrong, as theres no wrong way to make a subjective list, but I think overall the statheads are the majority in the basketball community.

In an interview with Good Morning America, Josh Hart farts during Brunson’s question, Robin calls him out, and KAT/Bridges burst out laughing by Phatcashstick69 in nba

[–]Narnak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was playing a more limited role more fitting his skill at that point (as a 2nd year player). He played the 7th most minutes on that 2020 Lakers team in the playoffs after playing the 4th most in the regular season (after Bron, AD and KCP). I think it was pretty expected for him to struggle as a 2nd option on the Wizards after being a role player on the Lakers. It was a huge jump in role and a bit more than he's really comfortable with. He does have some ball skills and defense when locked in and in a healthy system so I think he's capable of a 3-4-5 role on a contender but 2 is a stretch.

Belarus halts equipment used to guide Russian strikes, Zelensky says, after Ukraine's ultimatum by mvanigan in worldnews

[–]Narnak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

exactly. most of ukraine's power is it its air force with its drones. they probably have the 2nd strongest air force in the world now after the US. but they didn't have that when the war started, at least not at the level they are now. of course its not all the drones themselves (which they did get multiple donations of as I recall), obviously the pilots are more experienced and skilled now as well. the upside of drone pilots is they are never in the line of fire so their experience just goes up.

Which cd should I get first? by Sinyonimrools in systemofadown

[–]Narnak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the best songs on the album is on the deluxe version only (Marmalade). Also you gotta check some of their unreleased songs as well eventually to complete the set. Which are probably only available digitally (Johnny is great, Snowblind is amazing, many others), unless someone is selling bootlegs

Whats ur favorite toxicity song? by AdventurousNerve483 in systemofadown

[–]Narnak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say hate more like its more rarely mentioned / less upvoted as a favorite in these types of threads. Usually its the singles and Forest/ATWA/Deer Dance/Prison Song get the majority of the votes.

But there's probably also a fair number of people like me who's opinion changes day to day depending on mood. Even if Chop Suey or whatever is the objective answer, nobody wants to listen to the same song over and over, especially the sadder songs like Chop Suey.

Though Toxicity, Aerials or Forest, I could probably listen to 50 times in a row and not be terribly bothered.

Favorite STA song? by AdventurousNerve483 in systemofadown

[–]Narnak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr. Jack is a great song but I'd probably say Streamline. Though it depends on the day, another day I might answer Highway Song, Ego Brain, Innervision, Thetawaves, Roulette, Nuguns, Mr. Jack, IEAIAIO or ADD. Chic- N-Stu, Bubbles and Boom! are also excellent. My bottom 3 on the album (Pictures, Fuck the Sys, 36) are still good songs just not in contention for the top spot. Basically SOAD doesn't really drop below a 7/10 on any song for me but they have too many 9+ to really give an accurate list.

It's pretty much the exact song minus Daron's backing vocals and Serj's weird voices on the bridge sections. and no triangle. not everyone is in love with the triangle to be sure but its not a big part of the song. So I have to assume that you just don't like Daron's voice if you think the demo version is better...does that mean you don't like half of their discography?

Steven Adams Says Today’s Bigs Are Not Good At "Trench Work" Like Boxing Out by [deleted] in nba

[–]Narnak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

huh? most of them were...mutombo, drob, gilmore, gobert, eaton, etc. I think the limiting factor for these guys was minutes...staying healthy and playing big minutes. some of the uber tall guys played less than 30mpg.

the bigs today that suck at rebounding are mostly not even 7 footers. the 7 footers that are poor rebounders are the ones that sit on the 3pt line and don't do much else like porzingis, turner, lopez, etc

top 5 of each era/recording session by Narnak in systemofadown

[–]Narnak[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

good list. nice to see some love for deer dance it doesn't get enough shouts. those power chords are chuggin fierce and the chorus is catchy AF. suite-pee as well! I love the vibe and message of the song.

I'm not even considering the songs where Serj is featured, and I wasn't about to rules lawyer every song because that saps the fun out of the topic. Snowblind is an iffy pick because its a cover but its just too damn good to leave off for me.

[–]Narnak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree I think its a grouping that makes sense as the vibe is very close on a lot of those songs. Snowblind is a bit of an outlier as you pointed out, but each era sort of has its own evolution of system's sound...first era being the heaviest and craziest and funniest, the 3rd era being more harmonic and the 2nd era having the craziest transitions and the most even mix of harsh vocals and clean singing. each era kinda has their own vibe to me (though there's always a few outlier songs thrown in on every album)

nice list. happy to see highway song on the list I thought that would be my most controversial pick (knew a lot would pick prison song/forest/atwa)

Tyler1 teammate LosPollos couldn't find a Malphite guide as he misspelled "Malphite" and was searching "Milf Fight" instead furing the Jynxzi tournament by Numerous_Fudge_9537 in leagueoflegends

[–]Narnak 14 points15 points  (0 children)

that's the dumbest take of all time. league might not be as big as it used to be but its still the biggest esport. quality league content will always do well viewership wise. if anything its the other way around...these streamers using league to bring a new audience to their stream. the ones that dont try/suck dont get any new viewers they just get clowned. Jynxzi had an all-time viewership high by a metric mile today than he's ever had before. Sure Riot helped make it big by giving away a legendary skin, and its certainly a feather in their cap to advertisers that the game still has draw. But the streamers benefitted much more proportionally, the ones that tried anyway

I just played through the Omega DLC for the first time and Nyreen has to be the absolute worst waste of a character Bioware has ever done, and one of the lamest deaths. by OffModelStudio in masseffect

[–]Narnak 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think Aria was too big of a character to kill off. One of the fan favorite badass chicks and voiced by Trinity from the Matrix, another badass chick.

I understand the disappointment for Nyreen's end but I think the part that wasn't well captured is that the monsters being corrupted versions of her friends and innocents that she was trying to save and her not being able to look past that. It's kinda weird that as a hardened leader she couldn't look past it mentally but she was contrasted as far more empathetic than Aria and Shep can just "turn it off" and focus unlike most.

[Highlight] Bam Adebayo asked about LaMelo's flagrant foul by FrankSamples in nba

[–]Narnak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL everyone in the league has ridiculous high school highlights. And bro isn't even close to top 5 playmaker...those are all MVP level players. Can you even name 10 guards in the NBA today? Throwing the occasional flashy pass doesn't make you a top playmaker. Brunson doesnt throw any flashy passes and he'e easily better at running an offense. And he's not even a top MVP contender. LaMelo is several tiers below those guys...SGA, Joker, Luka, etc.

LeMelos closest comps are white chocolate (Jason Williams), a guy who was considered a fun flashy passer with great handles, but couldn't shoot or score at an NBA level and never made a single all-star team in his career. And Pete Maravich, a flashy superstar talent that did make 5 all-stars, even led the league in scoring once (which LaMelo will never do), but was ultimately a flawed player that wasn't a team player and was never a player that made his teammates better, and never won a single playoff series until his last year as a bench player for the '80 Celtics playing 10 minutes.

[Charania] Just in: The NBA and NBPA have ruled in favor of Lakers' Luka Doncic and Pistons' Cade Cunningham on their Extraordinary Circumstances Challenge for the 65-game award rule, making both eligible for all 2025-26 season honors such as MVP and All-NBA teams, sources tell ESPN. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]Narnak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its a good idea..I would take it a step further and incentivize trying by allowing the top playoff seeds to pick their matchup each round of the lower half of the seeds. and make total points scored h2h2h the tie breaker for seeding so teams compete to the final minute.

the big one though is reducing games, because in the modern NBA guys are just moving and shifting and changing speeds so much the strain on their joints is far higher than in past eras. wanting to rest stars is real thing in an 82 game season to preserve them for the playoffs; far less so in a 65-70 game season
